Part-Time Grad School (engineering) - not employed - possible?

I have heard of part-time grad school while employed, but can’t find much on a non-employed PT option. If it helps, I have depression. Perhaps there’s a few progressive programs that count depression as a PT-qualifying disability?

Please don’t advise me not to pursue grad school with depression. Simply asking if you’ve heard anything about part-time non-employed graduate school. If engineering, then better. Thanks!

Some schools just don’t encourage PT study but others have no problem with it and it really does not matter if you are employed or not. More importantly, if you need to get Federal financial aid, you may need to be full time.

Yes, the majority of schools that will allow part-time studies won’t really care why you are attending part-time. You typically don’t have to be employed to go part-time.

Also, many graduate students successfully complete school (FT or PT) with depression and other mental health issues, so don’t be dissuaded.

Just be aware that a lot of explicitly part-time grad programs are designed for working professionals which means that (a) the classes are mostly at night and (b) there is little to no financial aid because they are expecting that your employer is footing the bill!
