are there any parties or is it too little to have parties yet?

Give it time. As soon as more students begin attending, more parties will spruce up at a faster pace.

Merced Has No social Life…They dont know if they are NOR Cal Or So Cal , they are confused… , but i love it too for some dumb reason. i grew up there all my life, and now live in SD. I would have Applied there but i rather go to a university that has a rep. I know though for a fact it would be one of the TOP UC’s for sure in 15 years, It will be a party school cause thats the only social thing to do, and they will have sports and a medical school soon to follow. It will be a Prestigous school soon BUT NOT NOW. in the future, Think of it as a UC Irvine Academics mixed with students from UC Riverside, and the party atmosphere of UCSB, and the location of UC Davis and you Have UC MERCED!!!

as of now, the student pool wouldnt be compared to the students at UCLA. in the first year, the average GPA was higher than riversides. there are plenty of parties at any school, but merced does have quite a few since yea…that is the bulk of the social life i would guess. no social life? everyone is quite involved in school and most people are pretty dang happy there.
