Does anyone know if it is possible to take non-major classes that are not required on a pass/fail or audit basis at Rutgers?

There is a good chance that I am going to be in the Mason Gross BFA Acting program and it looks like I will have all its liberal arts requirements completed through my community college classes and AP credits. I think I would like to take one interesting social science class a semester, but each would be upper level and I am worried about how the time commitment for them will work with what will already be a 70+ hour weekly commitment to my major. I would like to study some cool outside subjects, but I don’t want to risk crashing my GPA or compromising my artistic growth in the program doing it.

I can’t find anything about this in the Undergraduate Catalogue. Is there another place i should be looking? Thanks

“Upon obtaining the permission of the instructor of the course and subject to the availability of space, full-time students may audit a course without registration. No academic credit is earned in this manner, and audited courses do not appear on the student’s transcript. Senior citizens also are encouraged to audit courses.”

I can’t find much else and will need to see if I can get someone at MGSA to see if I will be eligible and if that spells two classes a semester or in the whole four years.

All I could find was: Pass/No Credit Courses. Mason Gross School of the Arts students are not permitted to register for courses on a Pass/No Credit basis.

on the MGSA page.

I would call the office of the Dean of Students or one of the Departments and ask them directly.
