Passing the college search to the kid, but how to pass the info?

I’ve been researching college admissions for my child and am now passing the work on to her. (Happy New Year!) However, I also need to pass her the reams of information (both paper and online). She’s not much of an organizer, and I’m stumped on the best ways to help her set up files, email boxes, and online docus so she can take over completely.

I’d like to help her focus on both the near- and long-term info/data needs so she can set up a good system now that will serve her at each step of the way. For example, in an Excel docu, I had listed a lot of factors about the colleges on her list, but had forgotten to include fields for the college’s ACT and SAT codes - because she’d not taking the test yet, so it wasn’t in the front of my mind.

What worked for you and your children? Are there any online sites where you can store and manage this stuff? What can we do to make this manageable?
