With Passover quickly approaching I started thinking about what wines to get . Every year I hope to hit on a good Chardonnay and Cabernet or Merlot. I haven’t been successful yet. What are your favorites?

I’m also hoping someone has a good suggestion. We have a contingent that likes Manischewitz and another contingent who prefers a classier offering - it would be fun to surprise the second group in a good way for a change.

I can’t say I’ve tried these, but these are the offerings from our synagogue’s annual wine sale. I believe that it’s organized by someone who knows about wine.

I didn’t see anything identified as a merlot.

Baron Herzog White Zinfandel or
Baron Herzog Special Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
Not cheap but well worth it…

I know Weinstock and Baron Herzog but haven’t heard of Lanzur. Is it in the same general price range as the other two?

We just bought Hagafen 2011 Lake County Reisling and 2009 Chardonney; we’ve often bought Hagafen in the past. We get it at a kosher supermarket in the Chicago suburbs that also has a mail order business but may not ship those specific wines: [KosherWine.com – Largest Selection of Kosher Wine](http://www.kosherwine.com/)
