Very sad news. She was such a classy lady.
She was a legend in Tennessee . . . gone too soon.
She certainly was a legend. Hoping she is at peace now.
My condolences to her family and friends.
So sad and so young. The progression of her disease was horrifying. She was a great Tennessean and was loved by all.
She was always intimidating, in a good way. I’m glad she likely wasn’t aware of her son’s recent actions.
Condolences to her family and former players. I agree, missypie, that I’m glad she wasn’t aware of her son’s transgressions and poor judgment.
RIP Pat.
I hope Tyler will step up and be the person she would have wanted him to be.
I’m not familiar with what her son did but I recall seeing a story about Pat Summit, I believe on 60 Minutes, and she was an interesting and inspiring woman. Very sad to lose her at such a young age.
Rest in Peace, Coach Summitt. I am not a big basketball fan, but I greatly admired you. There was a cute picture of her with young Tyler (late 90s) cutting down the net. Very sweet!
