I played basketball yesterday with sandals and without warming up (not a game, just shooting hoops and whatnot). I still ran around a bit so. It doesn’t look severe but I have difficulty walking.

Any of you had patellar tendonitis before? How long does it take to fully recover? I know athletes need more time to recover (e.g. tennis and basketball players) since they run and jump (respectively) frequently but I’m not an athelete. Would I need less time to recover?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I asked my mom cuz she’s had knee problems her whole life. She said tendons take about 4-6 weeks to heal. The less movement you do the faster it will feel better, and try to keep your knee straight cuz that is the most relaxed position for that tendon. Ice will take down the swelling, and heat will help the blood flow, so do those back and forth. And she said next time play Wii. Lol

4-6 weeks. ■■■

Thanks for the input btw :)

Ah, I’m thinking about acupuncture since I’ve heard it speeds the healing process. I don’t know if I should go that far though. It has been only a day and I’m walking alright. It’s not chronic PT h so Ieard home remedies (ice packs, mentholatum, etc) should be enough…

Personally, I don’t voluntarily allow random needles poked into me… but then that’s just me.
