Pathetic Situation.........

You see, I am a very ambitious international student. I live in a country that is
so dry that there is nothing like magnet programs, volunteering opportunities, and anything that resembles extracurriculars. If anything surfaces, its only for citizens. Ladies are also expected not to start anything, if they do for any reason ; they are from a special family and are citizens.

I am not a citizen, so I have nothing to turn to. I am thinking of applying to Yale, but then someone might throw my application in the bin before they read through the entire thing. Thus, I have only grades and test scores, and then some shallow activities at my school.

Plus, my school does not offer any advanced courses like AP, IB, or Honors.
SHOULD I EVEN BOTHER APPLYING TO YALE???

Thanks everyone for bearing with my whining… :)

Present yourself - and case as best as you can. In your unique circumstances, what you have made of the very limited opportunities you have, then your grades / scores - may just give you the audience you need. Goodluck.

That is not a reason to not apply! If Yale is a place you would want to be, then do so. They make it abundantly clear that they look at each individual’s personal circumstances when making admissions decisions. If you have very few opportunities afforded to you but have taken advantage of the ones you could, then they will know. Just make sure they understand your situation! Good luck!

Thanks. I’ll make sure I apply next year (my senior year).
