Patience, all - update on 2024-25 FAFSA

Most likely, it’s fine & just a bit slower than normal.

You have to respond using the link sent from her form. You would then log in using your ID, which it sounds like you have successfully used in the past. I have no clue what might be happening. Sometimes things magically get fixed. Sign out & try again in the morning. If it still doesn’t work, you can 1) call customer service line or 2) (if you have spouse) have your D switch her parent to your spouse & have spouse complete parent section.

So I don’t know what it looks like when a parent gets the invitation. Parents who have completed your section … what happened when you clicked on the link? Where did it take you & what information did it request?

It just takes you to the login page. I suspect one could just go directly to the login page and log in without using the email link.

The issue is she can’t send the invite. When she fills in the info to send the invite that’s when she gets the error message and it tells her I may have account (which I do) and that all the info has to match (which as far as we can tell it does). We’ve given up for today and as you suggest magically hoping it fixes itself. Because I have neither the time nor the patience to work with FAFsa to get this fixed. I work full time so can’t spend hours on hold and my info was good enough the past two years so can’t imagine what the problem is except that apparently this whole roll out is a train wreck. Until today I’ve always said the FAFsa and css weren’t really all that bad but I’m rethinking that today. So frustrating.

I think this is correct but if you don’t get the invite (in our case because it’s claiming the info is incorrect when it’s not so my D can’t complete the form and send the invite) you can’t access the student’s form once you’re logged in

That is incredibly frustrating, I’m sure. I will watch for new “known issues” in the morning & post if there’s something that addresses your issue.

I happened to see a sample of one of these emails elsewhere, but it stated the reason why the SAI couldn’t be calculated. Yours doesn’t have a reason, correct?

Thx

I have the same issue. I got an email saying they received my FAFSA but under SAI it said “can’t calculate” but there is no reason listed.

My mom said when she filled out her part nothing was pre-populated and she filled everything in. Could that be the reason?

Did your mom by any chance say that she would not consent to sharing her tax information directly from the IRS? If that was the case, they won’t calculate an SAI because the parent has to consent. Just throwing out a possibility.

She checked the box to share info but it hadn’t populated yet. She said the form advised she could wait and come back at a later date to finish the form but she just filled it out anyway because she had such a hard time logging in.

She needs to go back and do the transfer. It will reject unless she does the IRS transfer.

How do you do that? There is no option to edit.

In your all’s experience, how much time it took to pull information from IRS once consent is given?. Trying to see if I have to wait or go ahead and put in the numbers based of the tax forms I have on hand.
Thanks in advance.

Once processing is complete (a couple days, typically), she will be able to go in to edit. If you have questions, feel free to PM me.

It’s immediate, and you won’t actually know that it’s happening. I’m thinking that @onipl’s mom either filled it out while the IRS website was undergoing maintenance or it wouldn’t let her transfer because her ID hadn’t yet been accepted (don’t know if that’s a thing - just a guess I’m throwing out there). Typically, once the box is checked, the tax information transfers behind the scenes. There may be a couple follow up questions based on the tax return. But if it says that the IRS information is currently unavailable & you can come back later, please wait.

Thank you.

Have you seen any reports of submissions getting to the processed point? Do you still think the “in reviews” will be processed in 5 or so business days?

I have seen reports from people on CC who have received notification that processing is complete. The SAI will be estimated, though.
