Patriot Bond?

I just received a bond priced at $100 dollars with interest over thirty years in the mail from treasurydirect.gov. There was nothing else in the envelope. I never purchased one and nor did my parents buy me one. I’m pretty worried because the patriot bond has the last four numbers of my social security number. It has my full name (including middle name that I keep almost secret) and address. Does anyone have any idea what this is and if could possibly be a scam?

From what I can find, this is the bond introduced after 9/11. It is only available through financial institutions, so you may want to check with your bank to see if they sent it to you.

Its a government savings bond, most probably series EE. Might be a gift from a relative…

Very likely a gift from a relative. Are you about to graduate from high school?

^I am graduating from high school this year. But why be anonymous? I need to thank the sender!

My son received one by mail a few years ago. It was an award from his school for something…I can’t remember what but he was surprised at the time as it came before notification.
