I’m trying to understand how does Cal charges its students:

1) What’s the connection between eBill, Cars, and EFT ?

2) I received UCB scholarship: how do I transfer the amount I was offered to my payment to Cal?

3) On my offer letter, few scholarship amounts indicates that it was accepted but N/A on the “Paid” column. Does it means that when registering for classes I will have to pay first and then have the university return me the amount that I paid?

CARS is the billing system. Berkeley doesn’t send out “paper” bills. Every month you will get an e-bill sent to your e-mail showing what you owe (if you owe anything.) If you have electronic funds transfer (EFT) set up on Bear Facts, CARS will issue refunds to you via a wire transfer to the bank account you set up to have it go to… it’s the fastest way to get a refund back from Financial Aid. Otherwise, you have to go to financial aid office and pick up a check.

2.) As far as a scholarship, check your Bear Facts and see if the scholarship money has been sent to CARS already (probably not.) You don’t have to pay and then get reimbursed though. The school will know you have scholarship money coming and won’t consider you “past due” when the bill is due.

3.) Bills aren’t due until August 15. If your money is coming from Financial Aid, don’t worry about it. Just make sure it all shows up on your awards on Bear Facts.

scholarship money will pay through your CARS once the financial aid office has 100% secured the money from the funding source. Mine was “n/a” for awhile just last week but the dough has finally come through my account a few days ago yay yah
