Paying for College via Loans & Work - Advice Greatly Appreciated

Even B students can get merit at some colleges.
If she’s intent on going away to college, she should absolutely apply widely to see where her stats bring her money, either need-based or merit-based or because the university itself is cheap to start with…
Depending on her stats, it could mean schools like Willamette, Southwestern, Wooster, Hendrix, or Clark, or schools like UMass Lowell or St Louis University or U Dayton or U Scranton or U Denver…?
Do her stats place her in a better position at U Nebraska Lincoln (or Omaha), or U Oklahoma-Norman, than at KU? What about KSU?

@BunHeadMom, wow - thank you so much! I will definitely share this with my friend and I do appreciate you running those numbers. I don’t believe the parents will take PLUS loans, and I’m not sure if they’d even qualify, but perhaps they could somehow scrape together the $3,332. Or if they do not qualify for PLUS loans, then the DD could receive additional loans, I believe. Of course, I can’t imagine the DD graduating w/so much debt, but that’s for their family to decide.

Also, if the DD works summers and earns below $6K, that will not affect her aid…correct? At least I don’t think so, but this really isn’t my area of focus since our family will be full pay, albeit completely in the donut hole.
