PB & J - what’s your J of choice?

I’m stuck at home today while having some work done. Having a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch.

As a native Floridian, my jelly of choice is guava!! So good!

What’s yours? Feel free to share other items you like on peanut butter sandwiches. I know you fluffer nutter (or whatever it’s called) people are out there!

My dh like peanut butter, banana, and bacon!

Bonne Maman all the way - though the jam mom would make would give them a run for their money. And by the way it’s JAM/PRESERVES all the way for me - never jelly.

Raspberry and peach lead the way with cherry also in the running. There was a holiday flavor that was like cranberry raspberry something else that was SOO good.

My Pb and J will have a spread of butter AND PB and then the jam/preserves.

On single toast I also like the occasional butter and PB and Honey.

Edit to say, I prefer chunky PB - and I REALLY prefer a store blended one (made in store) that is honey roasted.

Blueberry or blackberry. My favorite is from Blackberry Farms/Mountain or the blueberry butter from the Inn at Irish Hollow.

Also love the interesting red berry jams from Bushel and Peck.

My favorite is ollalieberry jam that I buy from a shop in Cambria Ca. We usually go twice a year and I restock. If I’m buying at home I like Croft raspberry or blackberry.
I’m more likely to have my peanut or almond butter and jam on a flour tortilla. Or I like it toasted served open face. On our last family trip I tried it with sunflower butter and it’s not the same but it’s okay. The preschool grandkids aren’t allow nuts at preschool and one of the grandkids and one of my kids have nut allergies. Along with the sunflower butter they had the Smash jam which was pretty good.

Honey! If not, then something like a thick blackberry preserve.

I’ve been curious about the sunflower butter.

Show you’re American without saying you’re American.

Anyway, when I first came here as a teen, I loved Fluffernutter.

Now on those rare occasions, I’ll have smooth peanut butter and raspberry (or blackberry) jam. But part of the choice is a function of which jams we have already in the house and purchased for reasons other than PB&J.

Not sure I’ve ever seen Guava jelly. Is it homemade?

My #1 choice is marmalade - a good, high-end version, preferably made with blood oranges.

Next would be raspberry or fig, although fig is harder to find here in NJ.

I do enjoy a Fluffernutter once in a while, too.

Our family did an expat assignment in the UK for two years. Ds was between age 2 and 4 during our time there. A neighbor had a little boy who was six months older than ds. He ate marmite sandwiches! I introduced him to PB&J which he LOVED (much to his mother’s dismay).

The mom had never had plain peanut butter before, and I had never had Marmite. We made sandwiches for each other. We each took one bite, and immediately traded! “No thanks,” on the Marmite for me, and she felt the same about the peanut butter.

These are preserves, which is all I can find here. Growing up it was definitely jelly. And, yes, it can be made homemade, too.

Fun fact - if you want a yummy and easy appetizer, find you some guava PASTE (or quince paste) and cut it into small cubes. Put a cube of guava paste, an arugula leaf, and a cube of Manchego cheese on a toothpick. So good!

Put the cheese on the bottom - so it will stand up!

I love fig jam!

Our Walmart carries Bonne Maman guava preserves in the jam aisle, and also Goya guava paste in the Hispanic foods aisle. Look for a round tin or a smaller rectangular package.

Sometimes I like a smear of Tupelo honey on my PB. Just a little.

I meant I couldn’t find guava jelly here. I can find both guava and quince paste, though.

Peanut butter and….. bacon. (On warm toast so the PB is all melty.)

I thought I was the only person in the world to favor this combo until a dietitian friend of mine admitted to eating it too.

I also like Bonne Maman strawberry or sour cherry preserves on PB sandwiches.

That was great jam!

My DH likes a certain peanut butter that is hard to find here but I can get it on Amazon or when we are in CA. I prefer creamy but he likes this chunky, and since I so rarely eat PB&J I defer to his preference. Typically I eat it with strawberry preserves, but occasionally with raspberry (though the seeds get caught in my teeth so using that jam is rare).
