As part of the election coverage, the Jim McNeil Newshour correspondent Gwen Nifel will be live from Swarthmore’s campus this evening. She will have some kind of round-table discussion in the student lounge at the Willets Hall dorm.

There’s a little blurb at the Swarthmore website, but not much detail about what the segment will be.

I guess PBS got their request in before FOX News.

From watching the Newshour last night, it seems that they are focusing on the 3 congressional races in the Phila. suburbs, including the district Swat’s in. Too bad my son has a Tues. night class. He chose to register and vote in PA since those races were more significant than the ones at home.

They are broadcasting now from Swarthmore, and there is a room full of students. Unfortunately, there is a tall guy standing in front of the “Swarthmore” banner and so it is not real clear where it is, unless you already knew.

Hey, at least prospective students got to see the nice widescreen HDTVs in the dorm lounges!

Looked like a nice turnout for watching election returns in Willets lounge. College must have done the old free pizza trick! If I recall from what my daughter said, they went through about a hundred pounds of Buffalo wings during the Super Bowl party in that lounge last winter.

For all who wonder, I’m the tall dude blocking the swat banner. Or I’m the guy to the right of the tall dude, I haven’t watched it myself - my parents recorded it, hah… I was in a white zipper up sweater.

I saw it and just wanted to say that you Swarthmore parents (and students) should feel proud. Smart, articulate, engaged. I loved the comment about how much students at Swarthmore love to talk about tax policy… Made me feel good about the country.

OK NJPitcher, you’ve made me go back to rewind the segment again. There are two guys there in front of the banner, both wearing white. I think you are the one who was leaning over at times, perhaps writing. Not the one blocking the sign. It’s OK, really, we can see the S—thmore sign. Those who “need to know” can figure the rest out. ;)
