PC that is light and sleek like Macbook

I really don’t like how bulky most PC laptops are. I like the sleek look of Macbooks and I like how their power cord actually attaches itself to the computer so it stays put, all of my PCs don’t stay that well and I always end up having issues with the cord or the jack in the computer.

Price is not an issue. I’m not a gamer or anything like that so I don’t need crazy video cards or whatever, though I do want the audio/video to be decent. I want something fast with a lot of memory. Most importantly, I don’t want it to be too heavy and I want it to have a sleek, compact design.

Any recommendations? I was looking at the HP Envy Spectre but I’m not sure.

Asus Zenbook UX31A. It has a fabulous screen, great build quality, and is fast enough for most tasks. The power connecter won’t be like Apple’s (I think any manufacturers will get sued instantly if they tried to copy the Magsafe design). The 32VD has a better graphics card if you’re interested but only offers 24 GB of SSD storage (the rest is a slower HDD). Since you’re not gaming the integrated graphics in the UX31A should be fine for you. If money’s not an object go with the version with the 256 GB SSD.

There’s also an 11.6" version but for me personally that’s too small (plus a 1080p screen at that size would very difficult for reading text, and Windows’s text scaling doesn’t work right all the time).

^aldfig0 offered some good points. With everything considered, overall, through ultrabooks the ASUS UX31 and HP Folio 13 get the best rating/reviews. Both come with high SSD options, plenty of ports, and enough power to do all tasks other than gaming. The ASUS offers a much better display, but the HP has a backlit keyboard that the ASUS does not.

Since you mentioned liking the look of slim Mac’s I’d also suggest you look into the Dell XPS 13. It looks exactly like a Macbook Air from the top (aluminum), but offers other superior materials like carbon fiber bottom and magnesium alloy interior chassis (makes it feel soft, but grippable). Like the HP Folio 13, the Dell XPS 13 will not come with such a high resolution display, but has a backlit keyboard. It’s the same size screen as an MBA 13", but in a smaller footprint chassis, however it weighs a tad bit more and has less ports. But it looks georgeous.

EDIT: Not sure how long you can wait before purchase, but within the next few weeks/months you should see the Lenovo U310 in stores with upgraded specs other than what is currently shown on their website (3rd Gen Intel CPUs etc). These also are quasi-reminiscent of MacBooks.

I think the HP Envy line looks exactly like a Macbook Pro. You might want to check them out!

This laptop may not be light and sleek but, it does offer you a matte screen with an aluminum finish similar to that of a MacBook.

The one I have is an HP ProBook 4530s with an i3 processor (which I got from MicroCenter for $399):[Micro Center - Hewlett-Packard ProBook 4530s 15.6" Laptop Computer - Metallic Gray A7K05UT#ABA](http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0388286)

There is a similar one but with an i5 processor and a 7200 RPM hard drive called the HP ProBook 4430s: [Micro Center - Hewlett-Packard ProBook 4430s 14" Laptop Computer - Metallic Silver LJ517UT#ABA](http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0387226)

You’re looking at around 4.85-lbs (not too heavy). Not exactly what you’re looking for but, good enough without breaking the bank. These are excellent if you are a non-engineering student.

The new Dell ultrabooks are also excellent such as the XPS 14z series.
IDK why the one review was bad because this is one of the better Dell ultrabooks out there that is reasonably priced and is lightweight (not MacAir light but again good enough).

Hey the Lenovo store has been updated! U310 & U410 with 3rd Gen Intel CPUs, but no full fledged SSDs (only hybrids).

It seems like you already want a Mac. If price is not an issue, why are you considering a PC? You do know that you can install Windows on Macs, right?

I think that the MacBook Airs are outdated compared to the new Ultrabooks.

None of the MacBook Airs have a 1920 x 1080 screen or 1920 x 1200 screen.

I’m not sure about it’s performance, but HP Pavillions look really nice and sleek.

If price isn’t an issue you may want to look the Sony Vaio Z series ultrabook.
Sony has been making thin notebooks for awhile now ( see the Vaio X505).
