If you get licensed as a PE is it easier for you to get into grad school?

You need a few years of qualifying experience in order to sit for the PE exam. In many states, you can shave a year of required experience off with a graduate degree.

So, in most cases, going to grad school will help you get your PE, but not really the other way around. The fact that you’ve gained some good industry experience will help you more than having gotten your PE will, so far as grad school admissions.

It couldn’t hurt, but I doubt it will help. From what I’ve seen at my grad school, the PE license is nice, but isnt really well regarded in academic circles because they dont need to be licensed. Only one of the profs in my department has it.
