1/3 of The Peddie School graduating class of 2025 will be attending a T20 university (!!) None of these are university faculty children or recruited athletes. Mostly unhooked. See for yourself: https://www.instagram.com/peddie2025decisions/
Some highlights:
5 to Duke (wow…)
2 to Penn’s highly-selective, dual degrees (M&T + LSM)
8 to Cornell
4 to Georgetown
Outside of these, nearly half the grade will be attending a T30 university, including 10 to NYU. All this while not being a pressure cooker…
My question is, what was Niche smoking when they made their 2024/25 rankings? Blair, Hun, or PDS above the Peddie?
Sounds like Peddie is a much safer bet for unhooked NJ applicants interested in STEM than Blair and maybe even Lawrenceville. Looks like their early investments in robotics, science research, and math paid off! Wish i got in
Peddie has always been an above average NJ boarding school. Although Niche rankings are not worth much, Peddie sits in a reasonable spot relative to others. 1/3 in a T20 would describe 20% of private schools in New England and the Mid Atlantic. In other words, I am not shocked by the stat. I am also seeing growth in what people consider to be a T20… probably closer to 50 schools.
I don’t think Niche rankings are important anyways. My kids’ non-boundary public school routinely sends 25% of the graduating class to Ivy+ schools. The school is not even listed on Niche. I guess it’s too niche for Niche.
I agree but sadly parents of applicants many times only refer to those lists before applying to schools. Unfortunately, because of this they miss out on the hidden gem of GPADCHEMMS.
Those are certainly impressive college results. Are you basing the 1/3 of the graduating class matriculating at a top 20 on the Instagram account? If it’s anything like the private school my kids attended, it may not be an accurate picture of the entire class. The kids headed to elite universities tend to be more likely post. If only 50 to 60 percent of the class post results, it will provide an inaccurate picture. It’s also highly likely at any boarding school that a lot of the kids will be legacies.
Assuming you linked instagram because that is where you are getting your data. On average, about 50% of a class post from these privates. Always kids missing and nobody ever knows the true stories around the athletes and connections. They look good, too, but they look just like the above average prep schools everywhere IMO. Both schools are great but we generally do not use CC to promote schools.
There are 140-150 kids per year that graduate from Peddie. If you think that 30 of the posts in the IG account are going to Top 20 schools, that accounts for ~20% of the class. That’s not so great compared to other schools.
In 1993, Peddie received a generous gift of $100 million from Walter Annenberg (Founder TV Guide) Class of '27. The school has been on an upward trajectory ever since.
