<p>I know this is going to sound REALLY stupid, but yesterday when I took the ACT they said only to use soft lead pencils.
Last week for the SAT I used Fort Ticonderoga Hard Lead pencils. Will my scores be delayed because of this or am I OVERREACTING?</p>

<p>Well, I used a mechanical pencil–unallowed-- and didn’t color in completely any of the bubbles…my scores came in on time…
…yes, you’re overreacting^^…
…they only say soft because it’s easier to write with…it’s not crucial…</p>
<p>I used a mechanical one in May and my score went from 2150->2360</p>
<p>I really don’t think it matters, they just say that to prevent cheating through the use of more complex pencils, or so I thought…</p>
<p>Or some mechanical pencils come with substandard lead.</p>
