Penn 2014 RD Thread

congrats an0maly!

How are you guys preparing for the decision? I’m going into it knowing i’m gonna get rejected but still having hope in the back of my head. What about you?

hopeful: i’m goin in the same way. bracing for a rejection lol

uhh. let’s just hope we don’t get that, that’d be unreal if i got in.

personally, after being deferred I feel it is hard to even imagine being accepted. I think I will check Penn’s decision last so when I do not get in, at least I will know I am accepted somewhere else

Had a pretty awesome interview. My guy was M&T too and he was terrific. This was his first interview ever, so it was a learning experience for both of us.

I just had an awesome M&T interview too! We vibed and it was I think the best interview I’ve ever had because it was conversational and just chill.

xs0it0ex, that’s actually a really good idea. I think i’m going to do that too.

I didn’t get an interview :(

^ It’s fine, apparently only half do. And not having one can in no way hurt you.

Random question, but were the M&T interviews separate? (I applied to the artsci college so I have no clue about this joint stuff lol.)

so i just found out my new rank for this year. and it’ll stay this way. by the end of last year, my rank was 10.04% and now the rank is 10.26%… i know it’s not a minor difference, but will it look bad?

@dontstopbelievin

I’m sure it won’t make a difference at all, as long as your first semester senior year grades were solid, which obviously they weren’t since you’re still in the top 10%.

April 1 seems ages away! ( : I bet we’re all feeling that way.

My interviewer seemed like he was in his 60’s… Couldn’t relate very well… but he was pretty nice and the interview went well (about an hour)…he basically just went down a list of questions and seemed pretty worn out. It was also very formal…At the end he did say, “For what it’s worth, I really hope you make it” and gave me his business card.

I wonder when the end of the interview season is?

I didn’t get an interview for Penn. Does this mean I’m not in the top x% of applicants or something? My friend who goes to my school got an interview, and the woman who is repping my area lives down the street for me (I don’t know her though).

again, not everyone gets an interview and just because you didn’t get one, does not mean that you’re not getting in. they dont mean much anyway. i spoke to someone from penn today and they said that all it is is a courtesey, has no effect, positive or negative on the applicant

Not sure; I wonder when the end of the interview season is?

The girl who got an interview has MUCH better SATs and grades than me, but no ECs. I have good grades but she blows everyone out of the water by a long shot in that regard. She took the SAT more times than me (I only took it once). I, on the other hand, have superstrong extra-curriculars.

I wonder if that has anything to do with it… she’s just far more… perfect than I am.
Does interest in an applicant affect interview or not?

^ i really don’t think so…since i got an interview from every ivy and yet am not as qualified as many ppl

@ylmc123: I highly doubt the interview means nothing at ALL in the admissions process. I think the general consensus, affirmed by my alumni interviewer, is that if you’re a borderline applicant, a positive interview that showed your interest in the school can give you that little extra boost.

But for the most part it doesn’t mean much. My counselor who spoke to UPenn admissions officers said that interviews also exist for alumni to feel a part of the process as well.

I’m glad I was offered an interview since it was so nice to hear his perspective. ( :

futurephysician,
r u not reading any of the posts? interviews have nothing to do with interest in the applicant!

ocgirl92,
my apologies, i didnt mean to say nothing, i meant to say barely
