penn and scholarships

How is UPenn with scholarships and grants? Also, how is the Anthropology department?

My understanding is that Penn is not too big with scholarships awarded purely based on academic merit (at the undergraduate level anyway). However, Penn does not hesitate to award grants to those who need financial assistance.

I cannot answer your second question.

Penn, along with the other 7 Ivies, only award need-based financial aid in the forms of grants. There are no merit scholarships. I’m not sure if Penn’s one of those schools that eliminated loans altogether.

Penn has, indeed, eliminated all loans from its financial aid packages.

Penn’s Anthropology department is generally ranked among the top 10 in the country. Incidentally, Penn’s Museum of Archaeology and Anthropolgy is world-class:

I would go further and say that anthro at Penn is a solid top 5 program. Only Michigan, Chicago, Berkeley, and Arizona are at the same level.

Penn’s Museum is indeed excellent, although the elimination of MASCA was an extremely poor decision and will heavily impact the research going on there.

Have you heard the latest? Apparently, it might not be as bad as it first seemed to be:

45 Percenter, I had not heard that. I have a couple colleagues there; it is very good news.
