Penn chances for MA Junior

Hi everyone, I was wondering what my chances are at an Ivy like Penn (cross posted for specificity’s sake). My stats and list are below:

SAT: 2340 (800 CR/770 Writing/770 Math)
SAT II: 760 Math IC, 740 BioE, 740 Literature (taking US and World History in May, and Latin in June)
GPA: 3.61 W, top 12% of class (dip sophomore year bc of med reasons and hospitalization, will be explained by GC). I have straight As for one sem of Junior year.
AP classes: Biology, English (both), Latin, Statistics, Psychology, Comp Gov)
School type: Average Massachusetts public, sends ~8 to Ivies each year
Demographics: Middle class Asian girl, hardest classes taken

ECs:
Debate (9-12): Nationally ranked
Human Rights Club: (9-12) President and Secretary
Political volunteer: (9-12) Help out in local, state, and national elections for Democrats
Tutoring: (10-12) Founded school wide program that organizes tutoring for kids from kids

Prob NM Commended, anticipating great recs (I have awesome relationships with all my teachers) and hopefully a killer essay.

What are my chances at Penn CAS Early Decision?

I would say you probably represent a “middle of the road” applicatant. You certainly have strong EC’s, but I’m doubtful of how much schools really look at that. Your SATs and etc are above average, but not tremendously so and your GPA, for whatever reason, is a little low. Based on absolutely no real authority, I would say you have a better than average chance of getting in, but its not a “slam dunk”.

SATs are strong. There is no real use in taking more SAT IIs. Most colleges at max require 3 unless you are like homeschooled or something. Your E/C is one of the weaker part of you app IMO. You GPA is low which will hurt your chance but if you have a explanation and upward trend you should be OK. Penn places a lot of importance in the GPA.
Write good essays!!! i would say 50/50 chance of getting in.

Juniors are rarely accepted. Wait until you’re a senior, then maybe you have a chance.

^^^^ now waiting for meng to contribute to the thread!in no time you will be able to get a 99.9% correct prediction

Chances: poor
Why?
Because I think the % of students who make chances threads in the Penn forum who actually get in is pretty low.
