Just finished my interview, about 50 min. He only asked me about 3 question. 1 was just a general tell me about yourself, why you’re apply type thing, then he asked about a couple of my extracurricular, and then 1 about what I do for fun. I asked him like 5-6 questions. It was really chill and he said he would recommend me. I feel good about it. I don’t think it’s anything anyone needs to worry about, just talk to them
@jarrett211 Not sure if it’s a hard deadline, but I think it’s safe to say that we can assume we’re not getting one if not by the end of this week. I don’t think it will hurt us–this is 100% random of course. That being said, even though we live in high density areas, there are probably a lot of applicants from our areas too. As a result, I think we may just be a part of the random portion that doesn’t get an interview.
@ComputerAge Fair enough. I think I have exhausted every possible angle of interviews lol.
Indeed @jarrett211
I sympathize with you, but remember, it won’t impact your decision. Now if someone refuses to be interviewed, that is different
Does Upenn accept students by regions bc I saw that they have regional admissions officers. Because obviously each school is different and a 4.0 by a student in one school can’t be compared to a 3.93 in another if that school is really hard.
I just had my interview on Friday evening and I think it went very well! It was a half hour, and the only reason we had to stop was because my interviewer needed to leave. They were really friendly and I think I gave a good impression. It was just really nice being able to talk about everything I love about Penn.
@jkman101 They do it by school. They understand schools are different. For example, only about 10 people in my grade have a 3.93 GPA. The average accepted GPA to Penn from my school is 3.73. It is different for each school, and Penn understands that.
They also take the different classes people take into account. For example, a ton of kids in my school have 4.0 UW, but the vast majority did not take BC Calc due to the difficulty/rigor. BC Calc does not boost your GPA more than AB, or even Stats for that matter.
@jarrett211 and @TheWaffleMan149 what if 4 people from your school applied each different school at Penn (Nursing, Wharton, seas, cas) would they still compare you with those students or just look at the transcripts for the school report?
I applied to CAS, majoring in International Relations. My interviewer went to Wharton. From what she told me about the interview process, each interviewer gets a list of students in their area- I think applicants must be added as they apply- and then the interviewer has the job of reaching out to them (in order) to schedule interviews. If a lot of people from the area are applying maybe they just run out of time?
I’ve been following this thread for a couple weeks now and finally decided to make an account. So, hello to you all!
Anyways, I just got my call from my interviewer a few minutes ago, and we set it for this Tuesday evening, and I am so nervous and excited!!! Any tips on attire and whether I should order something beforehand?
@lirn1130 Hello! Welcome to the thread!!
And my interviewer and I were both LSM but it was a little weird since he was more interested in the business side and I was more interested in the medicine side. But we could still connect over the general opportunities and things at Penn, so I think it should be fine
Final interview question: they always email you first and then you call/email them to arrange the time correct?
Yup @jarrett211
Maybe check your spam?
@VaishS I’ve been doing that. I just wanted to make sure that I didn’t miss an interviewer calling me or something because I don’t answer my phone often.
Mine came as a text @jarrett211
Does anyone know if Penn releases admissions stats before the 11th? Like amount admitted, percent of incoming class ED, percent legacy, etc
@jarrett211 Just make sure you have a voicemail set up, so even if you do miss the call, the interviewer can leave a message and a number to call back at.
@TheWaffleMan149 I wouldn’t think so. Last year, I believe they released them the day of, so I am assuming that would be the case this year as well.
@jarrett211 I’ve checked my spam folder more times in the past few weeks than I have ever before in my life…
Also regarding the volume: I guess, considering apps doubled this year in my school alone, I can’t imagine how many apps there must be from the NYC Metro Area… quite possible they’re overwhelmed. Wonder how the student list is issued to them and sorted, though… you’d think it’d be the first to submit the first to be contacted?
@lirn1130 I do. I haven’t received any voicemails, though.
@ComputerAge You would think they would do that, right? lol Apps doubled from my school too, albeit on a smaller scale.
