*Penn Class of 2020 Early Decision Discussion*

I don’t think the interview is that important, unless you’re super rude or something. The guy that interviewed me had just graduated and he told me to dress casual, and I sorta did but a bit nicer bc I had a baby shower to go to afterwards.

My mom drove me there and the whole time I was laughing bc we were driving through the downtown college area and my poor mom was just like “wouldnt you just rather go here?”. But anyways the guy was wearing like work out shorts and an old Eagles tshirt, so extremely casual. And bc he was so young he had a lot to say, he was just one of those ppl, I didnt speak as much as him but I made sure to ask questions. He was nice enough and he actually contacted me again after I got in so that was really nice of him.

Also dont worry too much abt the interviews to those who havent gotten them yet. I did bc I didnt get mine until very late and 2 of my friends had already interviewed and they made me feel bad abt it but its not a huge deal. Its not like you blew them off or anything.

I dont think he knew, I mean I told him in what country I was born and stuff but I didnt really go into detail.

Guys am I already in the rejection pile lol. I still haven’t gotten mine interview and I’m an applicant from Richmond, Canada

@yolomaster98 We’ve discussed this extensively and I don’t think it can be any clearer. It does not matter whether or not you get an interview… They’re assigned randomly, unscreened. We’re just in the unlucky 10%

@VaishS What is the count now?

I still haven’t been interviewed either but my guidance counselor said not to start worrying until Thanksgiving, but don’t you think that’s pushing it really close? The notification date (AKA rejection day for me!!) is really early this year

I would not worry. Worrying won’t increase your chances of getting an interview. If you get an interview, you do, but if you do not, then it will not be held against you in the application process.

Anyone know if they look at first quarter grades?

@TheWaffleMan149 3 weeks, 1 day, 19 hours, and 25 minutes (this may be a little inaccurate since we don’t really know what time it will be on the 11th but I set it as 5pm since that is what someone told me it was last year)

@nodaysoff97 if they are on the fence they might ask, and if you send them/if your school automatically sends them they might look

Also since we all are struggling with school/life in general this is my graduation countdown (obviously different for everyone but same general time period)
6 months, 1 week, 6 days, and 22 hours

@VaishS my school makes us send them. ugh. Also, I think it is usually around 5PM; my friends who graduated last year received their decisions from most ivies around 4:30/5

@VaishS I also heard 5pm last year. THIS COULD NOT GO SLOWER

So how many of us applied to wharton ed?

its 5pm EST, more than likely. i like that penn allows us to log on to the portals and view them at 5pm, pretty much on the dot. for other schools, you have to wait for an email from the school, or worse yet snail mail…

Hey guys, I’m an international student living in UAE. And I have just been contacted by my interviewer for a phone call on feb 5th. How is my interview waaay after the ED results come out? Wouldn’t this disadvantage my app?

I thought it was Dec. 15th? Where did you hear of the 11th?

Thanks.

Does Penn still issue paper mail to inform us of our results? Or have they scrapped that already?

@Dreamchaser178 The Daily Pennsylvanian (Penn’s newspaper) said it in a news article (which is where I heard it) and I think Dean Furda also tweeted it. If you call them they will confirm that it is the 11th

@my2020 that’s soooo weird, yeah that’s definitely not okay. Talk to your interviewer and explain that you are an ED applicant and you need it a lot sooner (even though they should know that)
