*Penn Class of 2020 Early Decision Discussion*

Most schools are now discouraging the practice. That being said, I believe if the applicant is a male and the interviewer is also a male, perhaps the interviewer feels that breaking protocol is not so bad. My kid was offered the choice of the interviewer’s office or home.

Yeah, at this point, it’s just best for us to stop worrying. It’s out of our hands now, and all we can do is wait.

@emilyskates I don’t know how many times this year I’ve contemplated just staying in bed for the day. I am so ready to be done, and honestly, I’ve had senioritis since like middle school, so it isn’t hitting me too badly this year.

for those of you who, like me, are procrastinating and ignoring the pile of homework due tomorrow because why not? here’s an interesting read: http://www.businessinsider.com/ivy-league-admissions-officer-reveals-how-they-pick-students-2015-11?utm_content=bufferb804a&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook.com&utm_campaign=buffer

You know, if I spent half of the time I just spent obsessing over my boy problems, I’d probably be done with my homework, less stressed, and possibly less confused. That’s just how my life rolls. Boys are confusing AF. No offense to the guys on this thread or anything.

Amen sista @emilyskates

Checked my application portal and sent an email and they said they were missing one. I hope this won’t affect my consideration

Missing what??! @nfhd11214367p0i

@Falcon1 Ahhhh interesting theory. My interviewer is male and so am I, so I guess maybe that applies.

Hii, just wanted to join the gang!
EDing for CAS - PPE major

My interviewer (CAS Class of 2015 - Econ and Political Science) contacted me last Monday, saying that he wanted to chat for 30 minutes via Skype. At first I misunderstood the time he specified (he said CST and that he was living in New York, so I just assumed that he meant Central standard time, but he actually meant China standard time…), so anyway, we have been exchanging emails for the past week and still have not set a time for the interview :-S I always reply to his emails within 2-4 hours after receiving them, but I think he only checks his inbox once a day so communication has been slow… Should I be worried at this stage since the deadline for the reports is just around the corner and he doesnt seem in a hurry?

Why does this photo give me a small heart attack

@hyacintho98 Welcome! I am also applying ED to CAS PPE major! Glad to see I’m not the only one.

If anyone is feeling stressed about college decisions…here is a semi funny story about my disastrous afternoon…so my friend and I were going to Barnes and noble to interview the manager for an English project. For starters, he was about a half hour late to my house because his girlfriend’s mother lost it because he drove her home. Yeah, I don’t know. I told him my address, and somehow he interpreted 16 X street as 12 X street. Then I called him like where are you?? Somehow he ended up at 15, which is across the street. He was knocking on their door, and thought about going into their open garage because I told him I was putting my shoes on. I had to sprint across the street to stop him. Then, we accidentally missed the exit because the sun was really bright, so we drove around lost. We also almost got hit by a car in the process. We were supposed to be there by 3:30 and it was 3:29 at that point. By the time we got to the mall, it was 3:32, and the only parking spot we saw was by this huge truck, which we almost crashed into. Then we ran in, and I was wearing 2.5 inch boots, so I almost sprained my ankle. And, our friend who works are Barnes and noble forgot to tell her manager that we would be filming. Then I got home, both doors were locked and my sister’s phone was off. So if you think your day went poorly…

Question for you guys- How many recruited athletes each year do you think Penn admits? I see there are 31 sports …

Hey everyone, quick question. I’m trying to have as much preparation (content-wise) as possible going into my interview Sunday. I was wondering, excluding Why Penn?, Why X major? and Tell me about yourself, are there any questions that all of your interviewers have asked you. Any odd questions? It’s pretty hard to prepare for those because certain interviewers have their own favorite interview questions, but I’m trying to find the questions that everyone has been asked so far so I can go into it having prepared to answer those.

I literally just had my interview. So nerve wreaking :-<

Hey guys, have you heard about Penn sending emails to people from the school they’re applying to that state they just want to talk to the applicant and answer the applicants questions about the school and nothing wrong with their application? My friend and I both got one so I’m not sure what this is about…kinda worried…

Directly to the applicant? Probably means some sort of interview thing

yooooo whuddup future quakers, I’ve been following this thread for awhile now and I’m going to join in.

And @jarrett211 , I had my interview on Wednesday. The alumni was the executive director at a fortune 250 company which really freaked me out, but he turned out to be really friendly so don’t fret too much over the interview. Almost 90% of the questions he asked me were out of the ordinary and ones I did not prepare for(which really threw me off, i cri evrytiem), but I just tried my best to answer them naturally. Here are some of the good ones:

  • Your parents are away for a week and you have the whole house and week to do whatever you want. What dod you do?
  • If you had a magic wand that could change 2 things at your high school, which two things would you change?
  • What are you prepared for and unprepared for in college? (the unprepared part was easy to answer, but the prepared part was difficult because I never really thought about that)

It’ll be difficult to prepare for all the possible “unique” questions your interviewer will ask you, and I would spend more time perfecting your answers for the more generic/typical questions. Answer the the quirky questions naturally and you’ll do fine. Good luck on Sunday!

@TheWaffleMan149 do you think it is something good then? Does that mean admissions shows more interest or is it just something general and we are borderline?

I can’t say for sure, but if I were to hazard a guess, I would say that they are contacting you for a regular interview. I might be wrong in thinking that though
