So are we just not going to hear any other info on the admissions process until the 11th?
yea
Oh man. < 3 weeks left !!!
@jarrett211 If I were you I’d have something current events related to discuss just in case. For my USC interview I was asked about a business current event that I found interesting. Since I take both Econ and Gov, I was able to come up with an answer so just make sure you’re ready.
@ComputerAge Interesting thought.
@jarrett211 Nice to meet you! I hope we both get in ><
Interview starts in 1.5 hours :-S So nervous
Just had my interview 3 hours ago! My interview was limited to 30 minutes because there was someone after me, so it was a bit rushed. My interviewer basically asked all the standard questions from the list and she wasn’t THAT fascinated by my answers. I don’t think I left the strongest impression due to time issues. I’m wondering how much weight the interview bears?
@stehyh Practically none. I read a lot of posts by Penn interviewers and past applicants and it seems that unless you came across as rude or had no intelligent answer (basically bad responses), it wont rlly affect your applications. Of course, if you and your interviewer were like soulmates, she might be able to write an amazing report, but that also wouldnt affect your application by much. I think the interview is just a way for Penn to have another perspective on who you are (and to get you to know more about them). At the end of the day, your application is the core factor deciding whether you are in or not.
Relax, im in the same boat as you. I just finished my interview 30 min ago via Skype, it lasted for 30 min and was fine, but the guy wasnt impressed by my answers. We didnt quite hit it off, but he was very friendly and new to the whole thing. After 30 min, I had no questions left to ask him and he couldn find any random/weird questions to ask me, so we ended it there. All in all, it was fine, but not great. Kinda hoped that I would meet someone who is passionate about the same things as I am. But well, i guess not everyone is that lucky.
I had my interview yesterday. I thought it went really well up until when we got towards the end and I still wasn’t asked why penn, which is probably the question I had the best answer to. I just posed a question to the interview by saying," for me I have x reasons for going to Penn and then talked about them… why did you go to Penn?"
A conversation can go any way and one has no control unless you remember this mantra:
“answer exactly as you want the next question to be asked” and/or “answer exactly in a way you want the conversation to proceed”.
I read somewhere an article titled: “the art of staying focused or in charge of a conversation”.
Just had my interview. Went really well, was scheduled for 30 minutes and it lasted an hour! Felt like my interviewer was a good friend by the end. He asked why Penn, why my interests, how I’ll integrate all of my diverse interests at Penn, and what my future career looks like. The rest was just conversations about architecture and filmmaking (I was lucky enough to get someone who shared both of my main interests).
I’m nervous… my interviewer emailed me 3 days ago saying he’ll get back to me on a date/time that works for him, and he still hasn’t emailed me back… should I email him following up, or would that be too pushy?
Any other M&T applicants get an email meant for M&T interviewers on accident?
guys what does no interview mean :((((( i still havent been contacted for one ughhhh
@tjgirl123 It means absolutely nothing. Don’t worry about it
@tjgirl123 today was the last day for interviews…
@toffys are you sure?? how do u kno
ugh wat does this meannn
@tjgirl123 What is your region? If you live in the middle of nowhere, there were no virtual interviewers available. If you live in a populated area, a lot of people in your area applied. My interviewer told me that interviews are somewhat “first come, first serve” so the earlier you apply, the more priority you receive for interviews. Did you apply on Nov. 1? If so, that could explain why.
Try checking spam, try looking through your voice mailbox, etc. Interviewers use their own e-mail, not Penn’s.
i live in an affluent area on the east… i would imagine there are many alumnis here. I submitted early october 31st morning, many of my ed penn friends applied like november 1st but they got contacted for one
i’ve heard that when ur not asked for an interview it’s either 100% acceptance or 100% rejection?? is this true
