*Penn Class of 2020 Early Decision Discussion*

Hi guys, I have a question for those that did their interviews over Skype. Am I suppose to call the interviewer first or vice versa? I’m a nervous wreck lol and I made some stupid mistakes when confirming the interview too haha…

@emshasnolife I didn’t have a skype interview, but I would guess that the appropriate thing to do is wait… it’s like having a phone interview with some firm. They would call you, not the other way around.

Oh, you have a very very good point. I feel a little silly now haha. Thank you @icrievrytiem

@c777123 Yeah I’m doing Kilichand, but not Trustee. I could never fathom that I could be in the top 15 admitted students to BU.

I messaged my interviewer a minute before our set time asking if she was ready, and she called me a minute later.

I’m applying to UCB too. Good luck

@jarrett211 Yeah same. Especially since it has its own additional essay. Which prompt did you pick for Kilachand?

@c777123 Education is…

Hey everyone! Really new here, but definitely have been reading this thread for the past couple weeks. I went ED to CAS and had my interview already and everything. I was wondering, since I’ve been looking for SUCH a long time, how everyone here actually KNOWS that the decisions come out on the 11th? Also, is anyone who submitted an art supplement still able to edit it, even though the deadline was November 10th?

@16eichenwalds It was in a Daily Pennsylvanian article (official Penn newspaper) as well as on the Information for Counselors page on the Penn website.

The article in question: http://www.thedp.com/article/2015/11/record-high-5629-early-decision-applicants-in-class-of-2020

@ComputerAge Ah, yep, I see it now. Couldn’t find either of those for some reason. Thanks!

what’s everyone’s top choices (asisde from Penn Of course  )

@jarrett211 I chose the other one. Couldn’t think of anything fun for “education is”. Good luck with Kilachand!
@teenagecrime My next realistic top choices (ones that I’m pretty sure I’ll get in) are BU and UT Austin, both for architecture. My other actual top choice is Brown, then Princeton… a man can dream!

I applied to Kilachand and Trustee, but I highly doubt that I will get the Trustee
I’m not sure how competitive the honors will be, so I can’t say what I think about that

Hey, I’ve heard of this this thing called a “likely letter” that colleges send out. I’m pretty sure the name explains what it is, but I was wondering if anyone has gotten one from Penn.

I think that is strictly for recruited athletes ED, and otherwise for RD @icrievrytiem

@icrievrytiem @TheWaffleMan149 Yeah, I’m pretty sure it’s specifically for athletes only. A couple of my friends got them (for other universities, not Penn), but they’re all getting recruited for athletics. The colleges don’t really “send them out,” but rather, from what I’ve seen, a college coach gives you a likely letter.

They wouldn’t serve a purpose ED. By applying ED, an applicant is stating that Penn is their top choice, and will commit if accepted. The purpose of the LL is to get students thinking about a certain school, amidst a bunch of other options.

Applying Stanford/Princeton RD. Stanford because I have a hook of sorts (complicated), Princeton because why not! Those are my next top choices.
