*Penn Class of 2020 Early Decision Discussion*

very interesting. we also use naviance (IL) but I am quite sure its not a 100 point scale.

@shivaya Well it’s based on your school. If they give you your transcript average out of 4.0, it’ll be sent out of 4.0

sigh… my schools really competitive so i definitely dont have all a’s… i keep feeling less and less confident about an acceptance lol

remember: the process is “HOLISTIC!”. UPenn is looking for the next Ben Franklin. So, scores do NOT matter as long as you meet the benchmark; GPA does NOT matter, as long as its within acceptable range; etc.

No specific credential matters but overall and in totality everything matters.

So, we have to simply wait “calmly” until the results are declared.

You should have some excellent backup schools that you would love to attend, in case uPenn doesn’t accept your ED application.

Did anybody on this thread go to LBW?

Do you guys think it’s possible to be in Wharton, and still take requirements for pre-med track? At the end of my undergraduate education, then I’ll decide whether I want to…

  1. Get a job using my undergrad business degree
  2. Apply to B-school for MBA
  3. Apply to med school

So I want to take pre-med requirements (including ECs) to keep my options open. Hopefully I decide by beginning of junior year which path I want to take or sooner, but I feel like, in HS, with no solid experience in either fields, it’s too soon to tell.

@shivaya “looking for the next Ben Franklin” -> that’s a bit of an overstatement.

@toffys Wutchu got against Benny Franks?

You better love Ben Franklin if you are looking to go to UPenn:-).

@thewaffleman149 He ain’t in my wallet :frowning:

Guys I somehow got 690 on the physics this time (I dont know how it was even possible), but 730 in june. How big of an impact will this have on my application Also only 730 in math 2 (gg fml). Applied to CAS for international relations. Aside my perfect unweighted GPA from my school I don’t think I meet any of penn’s SAT scores LOL. (2150 on SAT)

@yolomaster98 It’s only a portion of your application. If you stand out in other things, you have nothing to worry about.

Also guys can you give some advice. Basically my interviewer contacted me for a skype interview like 4 days ago asking me to pick a time and date that she listed as available. However, after I emailed to her that same day, she hasn’t responded back to me nor added me on Skype. What should I do? Email her back or would that be considered rude cuz I don’t even know how to email her back…

@ZBlue17 Don’t quote me on this, but I don’t believe you’ll be able to fulfill pre-med reqs at Wharton because I think Penn limits the amount of class you can take outside of your school (they tightened that limit recently) and there aren’t enough pre-med related classes at Wharton itself. You might be better of at CAS, where you can fulfill your pre-med requirements and still study economics (although, this is different from biz at Wharton). Lastly, maybe look at a dual-degree program (LSM, Life Science & Management) which will allow you to meet your pre-med requirements and still get a business education.

@yolomaster98 do it. yolo, amirite? (just kidding, don’t listent to my advice. Wait for more qualified people to respond)

Guys are you all freaks in terms of extracurricular? Cuz I have the most boring activities on my common app. Everything else is really good tho… but I’m still hoping that they won’t sort me out into “generic asian crap” pile :))

a gpa range accepted for penn would probably be 3.7-4.0 right? or maybe like 3.6-4.0

The better the GPA is the better your chances are, but there isn’t a set range.

Guys I JUST submitted my SAT Physics score from November of this month. Am I good???

@Pokerworld I epitomize “generic Asian crap” so you’re really not alone :)>-
