@emilyskates - wondering if in NY GPA is expressed in a 4 (or 5) point scale or in percentages (when the HS sends report to the uPenn)?
@slykolev: According to admissions they want it before the 30th. Because it’s the holidays, it will take longer. Rush reports are no different from regular. CB just wants to make more money. Also, it may take more than a week to send because of the millions being sent to UC’s right now.
And if you’ve already had your interview, they’ve most likely already made their decisions.
@shivaya I don’t think it really matters because they see the transcripts anyways
how important is gpa to penn
@tjgirl123 I think GPA is more important relative to class rank and rigor of courses. There are schools where the top 50% all have 4.0’s, and schools where the 1% has a 3.5. Your GPA should show that you challenged yourself and did well.
so you have to be top of your class… definitely not me
They say that the transcript is the single most important factor in the admissions process. I believe that that is true for every top school.
Long time lurker deciding to finally post…
My GC emailed my 1st quarter grades to Penn today. How much of an impact do you think they will make? I got all A’s in 6 AP classes, which is definitely an improvement over my overall GPA and transcript, which is solid but not as superb as Penn likes them to be. I just hope that they see them in time before they make the decision to reject/defer me :))
Anyways, the countdown to December 11th continues! Crazy that after we get back from Thanksgiving break it will be less than 2 weeks away…
I am terrified. Bout to send in BU and Miami of OH
The closer we get to the 11th the more I feel like a have no chance of getting in. Idk why, just a bad feeling
Everyone in my school now knows that I am applying to Penn because my interviewer told another kid she interviewed from my school that she had interviewed me a few days prior. She should be banned from interviewing for how many things she did wrong.
@VaishS Same and I found out that like everyone I knew got a likely from Fordham and I haven’t so I’m now worried about getting into Fordham never mind UPenn
My school’s counselors are too excited because they’ve sent a kid to every Ivy except Penn. If I get accepted, my school will finish it’s Ivy Flag collection.
@toffys no pressure though
@TheWaffleMan149 I’m truly sorry to hear that. That is honestly the last thing I would want to happen to me.
Did anyone apply to NETS?
@toffys kind of in the same boat, except my school has never sent a student to Wharton in particular (we have flags for business schools in the business-oriented classes)
@emilyskates LMAO as soon as I saw the average out of 100 I was like she must be from NY too! I’m always so confused on here when I see it on a 4.0 scale, and with letter grades…it’s hard for me to gauge that against my average because it’s not a proportional conversion.
@shivaya I saw my Common App School Report on Naviance eDocs in my counselor’s office (exactly how it’s sent to colleges) and it showed up on a 100 scale. There’s only one reader who covers JUST Manhattan (where my school is), and since most NYC schools use a 100 scale she can easily compare between regional schools.
