*Penn Class of 2020 Early Decision Discussion*

Wow, makooks! Your app is very strong. Best of luck! @Makooks

Is Penn a hardcore party school? I’m beginning to be concerned that I applied to one, even though I am like the farthest thing from a partier

@Mel1997 Thank you Mel! I hope so lol. What school did you apply ED too? I applied to CAS.

@TheWaffleMan149 Idk but ya same I’m not at all a partier! But I did hear that it was named a top party school by Playboy in 2014 but i don’t know how accurate that is.

@Makooks Now that is a bit concerning…

I’ve heard Penn is a good mix between party and academics. It’s often referred to as the “Social Ivy” (but not the alcohol-crazy Ivy… ahem Dartmouth). I think a little party life at college would be great! The more I think about it the more I can’t see myself anywhere but Penn, yet I am trying to stop myself from going in with that mindset because otherwise I’m just setting myself up for disappointment…

@Makooks SAAAAAAAAME omfg i relate to that so freakin much ughhh

To be honest one of my biggest fears about college is that I’ll meet people that end up being hardcore partiers when my actual idea of fun is sitting in a dorm in a small group to just talk… I sound so antisocial LOL

@ComputerAge Exactly! I feel like Penn is the perfect school for me, but I know need to be open to other options and get excited about other schools because Penn is a long shot.

That or being sucked into an ethnic bubble and not making any friends outside my race

@decidophobia literally me. I am totally okay with just chilling with some friends rather than going out and partying all night.

@decidophobia Those are my two biggest fears about college too! I’m only half Asian and the Asian bubble still happens. And chilling with a small group is infinitely preferable to me than a huge party

When you bond with strangers in a college confidential forum ahaha if we get in we should legitimately meet up

I have to say this thread has reassured me even more about college since I’ve been worried about not finding “my type” of people. But yall seem amazing.

@rosewood98 100% agree with you

I empathize with everyone here so much . . . I am worried about Penn’s Greek system and how dominant it is over undergraduate life

My dad was a part of Greek life one of the years he went to Penn. He said it was not overwhelming, and the years he wasn’t a part of it, you could easily live without it. A majority of students don’t do it. Albeit it was 30 years ago. Still back then it was more dominant than it is now. And back then Penn wasn’t a dry campus.

Haha it’s ok, everyone from this thread that gets in can meet up and plan out Friday night “sit in a circle on the floor” talks :stuck_out_tongue:

^that sounds lovely!

How awkward is it to say “we first met on college confidential” though lol
