Penn - how tight knit is it?

is Penn do anythign that Yale does to keep it tightly knit. I know Yale does residential housing.

just curious.

in my opinion, Penn’s kinda spread out, due to its various colleges and size (Philly).

There are a number of clubs of course and a variety of residential programs in the different college houses. If you sign up for one (and get in), you’ll be living with people of similar interests.

Not only are there residential programs, cultural student associations tend to bring students of the same culture/interest closer together.

You will end up very tightly knit with some group, be it your freshman housemates, your cultural/whatever group friends, people who share your major or other things, your frat (if you choose).

There is no one set way of creating a tight-knit community at Penn–but there are several tightly-knit communities. You just have to find one that you like.

I think the sports scene is bigger than it is at Yale (following your example). By that I mean, more people attend games regularly.
And there’s the toast throwing :)

I would like to add that if you can’t find yoru own tight-knit community, then you suck.

I hope that remark wasn’t directed at me invading the Penn board when I am not a Quaker? :(

no no, of course not!! it was just a roundabout and typically evil east coaster way of saying that it’s very very easy to find your own community here

lol great. I plan to crash many penn parties :p
