Penn or Yale

this is a tough decision for me… and it will probably come down to which school I perceive has a better social atmosphere. Which school has more attractive women? I’m going to Scholars Preview Weekend then Bulldog Days, and I will probably make my decision shortly after.

The other thing that will affect my decision (and causes me to lean towards Yale) is flexibility of curriculum. I was accepted to Wharton, and I’m not sure how easy it would be to change to the CAS or another school if I found I was no longer interested in business.

LOL. At least you’re honest!

Penn / Yale ain’t ASU or Florida, don’t be expecting to see 10s running through the campus - but, on the other hand, you’ll be meeting some of the most amazing women in your peer group: smart, accomplished, motivated - character not looks is what really matters in the longrun, which you’ll figure out sooner or later. Enough opining.

As for Wharton and business, clearly Wharton undergrad is the best program in the country. If you plan on going straight into industry (with a view that you may not go to business school down the road) then it’s hard to beat Penn for overall opportunities post-graduation.

That said, if you do plan on going to b-school after a few years of working, I’m not sure that Wharton is a no-brainer choice over Yale (in other words, two candidates with identical backgrounds, work experience, GPA, recommendations, etc. - one from Yale and one from Wharton undergrad applying to top b-schools - it’s a toss-up, i.e. the Wharton undergrad doesn’t have a definitive advantage over the Yale grad in this instance merely due to having gone to Wharton). At the same time, if you plan on applying to Wharton for your MBA - then the Wharton undergrad will have an advantage (but only in this specific instance).

The decided advantage Wharton undergrads have is largely when they are coming out of school and applying for jobs.

Once you have worked for a few years, that advantage becomes less important in place of work experience, work accomplishments, etc.

If it were me, I’d go to Yale given that you are unsure of whether you will be sticking with business in the short to long run, and 4 years from now - no matter what happens - you have the comfort in knowing that at a minimum, you will have graduated from arguably one of the top 3 schools in the nation.

Either way you’ve got an envious decision to make and it’s hard to make a “wrong” one at this point.

Take time out to speak with some current students at both programs and visit both campuses.

Congrats.

Claudemozet seems like the kind of guy for whom it might be appropriate to consult the Playboy Party School rankings as a tie-breaker. Alexandre, do you still have that dog-eared copy hidden under your mattress?

Maybe next year the two most influential college ranking publishers, US News and Playboy, will combine their resources into one master grid and save us all a lot of trouble. Then, all over America high school kids will be heard explaining to their mothers, “Hey, give me a break, I just read it to see who’s ahead in Alumni Giving percentage!”

wrong thread my friend.

He said his decision will come down to which school has a better social atmosphere and hotter women. My friend.

Ivy women are universally ugly.

ah, now i get it…

i thought you were referring to the Playboy ranking in context of the Wisconsin thread…

Penn is considered “The Social Ivy” if that helps :)

I guess the following Ivy women are “universally ugly”:

Brooke Shields (Princeton)
Natalie Portman (Harvard)
Claire Danes (Yale)
Jodie Foster (Yale - magna cum laude)
Elisabeth Shue (Harvard)
Mira Sorvino (Harvard)
Anna Paquin (Columbia)
Amanda Peet (Columbia)

…and many others that I’m sure I have missed (not to mention the nameless ones)

hey, like i said, the Ivies ain’t spring break at Daytona - so don’t expect it to be.

Why is it that I think logic is so sadly lacking in today’s high schools that somebody is going to try to refute Ivy Grad’s last post by making an even longer list of pretty actresses who DIDN’T go to Ivy League schools? Oh, and you for got Jennifer “Flashdance” Beals (Yale).

The point of my post wasn’t to try and prove that the Ivies have graduated the MOST attractive actresses - but rather to refute the claim that Ivy women were “universally ugly” - which I accomplished. Nothing more and nothing less.

But of course, I’m expecting the lists to start coming…

I hope you know I’m on your side on this one, IG. I spent some time in Cambridge, and saw no shortage of lookers. But just to show charity to the opposition, I’ll start it off:

Rosie O’Donnell

I know you are TG.
