My daughter is on her way home to DE right now. She and the other seniors on the HS track team went as spectators today.

She and my husband will go tomorrow to the finals; some father-daughter bonding before college starts. He has six inherited tix right at the finish line - and many friends this time of year!

I have many fond memories of gong to the Penn relays as an undergrad.

I took my daughter to the Penn relays 8 years straigh because one of my good friends has a daughter who ran from h.s. to college and we went every year. I wonder if that is the reason my D told me she was “Penned out” when I asked her to consider Penn?

Well, unfortunately, it has been raining ALL day. No fun today…but I did get all of my gardening done (ground was so soft and easy) and even installed new solar lanterns.

Sybbie, what I recall most about Penn Relay weekend were the step shows at Penn…both in the stands, during the relays…and later in the evening. There’s one tonight that I’m really tempted to peek into. However, my S might be going…so I have to keep my ususal 100 yard perimeter distance ;)

I actually watched some of it on TV today!! I was surprised it was televised.
Brought back some fond memories of Franklin Field. I ran my first marathon - the Penn Relays marathon, many, many (did I say many?) years ago. It was called the “Penn Relays Marathon” but it was open to all and took place the weekend after the track meet. The marathon finished Olympics-style with a lap around the track. I took it out too fast (it was my first marathon) hit the wall at 20 miles, alternately walked and jogged the final 6 miles in pain, but when I entered the stadium and hit the track I forced myself to run that final lap (couldn’t WALK in front of all those folks!!) and collapsed into leg cramps after the finish… ahhh… those fond memories!!! :)
