Penn State Altoona

Hello, How would you rate Penn State Altoona is nursing program? I know it the dream for university park but I didn’t get in and I’m okay with that but wanted information on Penn State Altoona nursing program and and all information would be appreciated

Altoona nursing has a very good reputation. I wouldn’t hesitate to go there

You will get wonderful clinical experiences with Altoona. Newer sim lab and next to a major hospital (bigger than Mount Nittany Medical Center). Best yet, you will be in smaller classes and will have a better shot at getting through those tough nursing courses. My daughter is struggling in the pathophysiology course this semester at UP. She told me Altoona offers a study group for patho (nursing weed out course) and she’s actually toying with the idea of driving down to Altoona.

Hello , My name is Seth and I will be applying directly to Penn State Altoona in January. I am a bit scared that I will not get into Altoona due to my GPA. Currently it is a 2.6 and my sat score is a 1200. Earlier in high school I didn’t go for good grades and really didn’t care. My whole family has attended penn State or a branch campus and I feel like I’ll let them down if I don’t . Do I have any shot of getting admitted? Also I do not know if it will boost my chances but I am Hispanic and volunteer at local homeless and animal shelters, play football , coach for a youth soccer team as-well. Any feedback will be great!

Penn State Altoona has far less stringent admissions requirements. I think you will have no problem getting in. Apply early for sure

Can I ask you what your GPA and sat score was because I have a 2.8 GPA and 1310 sat and going to apply to Penn State main campus in September and apply for the summer option? I was going to go undecided too.

Why apply in Jan? Start your application now as I think it’s open.
