Has anyone with an acceptance to UP been from Bellisario? It looks like it has mostly been Smeal or STEM related majors.
OOS, applied 10/27, accepted today, Eberly.
3.9UW , ACT 31, 9 AP’s

And thank you for providing the stats right in the post ![]()
I am not taking calculus this year but I had an integrated math course sophomore year with pre calc involved in the curriculum.
My courses this year are Sports Marketing, Accounting, Retail operations Management, Spanish 4 honors discrete math, de English, and finance.
Also have a very strong essay about my speech impediment and how I’ve overcome the adversity that comes with it, but I’m not sure how much sway that has on decision.
Can you give me another percentage based on these follow up details.
Also, for reconsideration do I have to pick a major outside of Smeal or can I pick a different Smeal major
We are waiting for Bellisario too.
Set4college… not accepted main campus with those stats?
My daughter got accepted to the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences - Environmental Systems Engineering yesterday! Main Campus. Applied EA on 10/28
Her Stats:
OOS (FL)
SAT 1440
GPA 3.52 UW at highly competitive private school
National Merit Commended Scholar
Summer college program focused on environmental field work
9 AP’s: Chem, Calc AB, Physics C, Eng Comp, US Gov, Comp Science, French, US Hist, Environ Sci
All other classes for last 3 years are Honors
AP Scholar - all 4’s and 5’s on tests taken
Violinist in the orchestra for 8 years including regional soloist awards
Over 350 volunteer hours working with foster children, president of club supporting foster kids in the community as well as a full time job at a plant nursery for the last 2 years
Do you have precalculus (regular, honors or AP) on your transcript? What about calculus?
I suppose you were in Integrated Math 3 sophomore year and you’re in Discrete Math senior year, not college calculus.
Ideally you have precalculus honors and calculus but you MUST have precalculus to be considered for Smeal (ie., your application won’t even be considered if you don’t, though many admits also have Calc).
Congratulations to your daughter! ![]()
An awesome resume - College of EMS will be lucky to have her if she enrolls ![]()
Thanks for posting her stats directly in the post. ![]()
I talked to my counselor about it and they said i met the requirements for calculus with my integrated math calculus it was an honors level course and like I mentioned it covered pre calculus level work along with some stat work
Eberly College of Science at UP.
I hope it’s clear from your transcript, especially since you didn’t take calc in HS and could have Jr or senior year + don’t have a math score (beside AP stats which is good). In terms of rigor you have 3 core courses senior year and no calc, I think that’s going to be the main sticking point for you because you’ll be competing for a spot with people who have 5 academic classes including calc.
No way to know what will matter. Just keep your fingers crossed, make sure you have two affordable safeties,
If you’re not admitted to Smeal, you have to apply to another college or major: DUS if you want to try your luck with a Smeal major or one of the majors I listed. Agribusiness in particular has excellent professional outcomes.
Deleted because I accidentally posted this to the wrong board.

Has anyone heard back from HHD?
Someone in another board said they did. Very High stat kid didn’t say to what program under HHD.
I feel bad posting this again but the more time that passes, the more I’m learning about this whole process. This is our first so I have lots of questions. Trying to prep my kid for 2+2 offer since she’s super borderline. She’s been accepted to Pitt as well as other schools with honors and scholarships. They read holistically unlike PSU. I want her to be excited about these other offers but she can’t seem to get there until she knows what’s going to happen with PSU. Anyone know kids that got UP with these stats?
3.72W- 3.58UW core academic classes, TO, applied Rehabilitation Services under College of Ed
competitive HS, lots of EC’s in healthcare, working with students with disabilities
Leadership and captain roles in sports, school wide clubs, NHS
My daughter was accepted last year HHD for Fall UP with similar UW gpa and also test optional. Sounds like similar background too with top PA public HS; lots of leadership, ECs, varsity captain and civic engagement in arts with dance. The more I’m learning about PSU process with gpa/rigor calculations I think her borderline gpa was likely helped by the rigor of her coursework for her admission there. I think she had 5APs, 9Honors and 14 dual enrollment courses when she applied. Her senior year courses included Calc, Physics, AP Lit, AP research, Psychology. Based on her admissions experience at PSU and others, we are encouraging our younger daughter to similarly challenge herself with rigorous coursework even if she earns A-/B+ in a challenging course rather than an A in a level 2 course at her HS as the rigor seemed to offset the GPA in many admissions calculations in our experience.
I know you are anxious, but it sounds like she has some other great options if UP doesn’t work out.
My best advice at this point? Walk away from the internet chaos and noise. It may be a while before she hears - and yes, others will be hearing. Haven’t heard any College of education decisions yet … so bring down the tension and the mood and stop checking the portal like mad. You only drive yourself crazy in the meantime. Trust me, I know.
She will find a place!
This is helpful, thank you. Her rigor is not as high. 4 honors, taking an additional honors and 2 AP’s senior year. Her main focus all of HS was college recruitment. Had full athletic scholarship offer that she accepted summer going into Junior year. This past summer she realized she wanted more from her college experience and let go of that scholarship. Now she’s realizing putting all her time and effort into sports (very time consuming top national team in country) hurt her academics with the rigor component. Was always told not to overload her academic schedule due to the amount of hours needed for her sports. Not making that mistake again with my other two ![]()
