Our test button disappeared around 7 and still not able to get into LionPath
More suspense ![]()
Is this the link you went to? For us there was one posted that didn’t work and this one did.
https://www.lionpath.psu.edu/
This one didn’t work as well—or maybe I broke it.
I heard of others taking a day or two.
Our son received his acceptance into the Hospitality Management program in HHD at UP!
The test score button disappeared around 7 pm and he received an email after midnight. Still can’t get into LionPath, but we’ll figure it out.
3.5 UW GPA
No test scores
Solid Essay
Lots of volunteer time (150 hours)
School counsel/Leadership
We were told that HM looks for students who are committed to this major. He has 4 years of culinary under his belt at his high school, plus worked numerous events in State College (we’re local!) and also attended Penn State’s COYHL (Young Hospitality Leaders) summer camp.
We’re so grateful! ![]()

Happy news this morning! Daughter admitted to DUS for fall at UP! 3.6UW/4.55W, TO, in-state, 4APs and the rest honors. Not sure if they looked at anything else, but she had a great essay and great EC’s. Her HS is quite competitive. Yay - we were not expecting to hear this early so this is nice!
Congratulations! I was really rooting for your son! So happy for this news.
Will they still release decisions tonight even though they will be coming out on a saturday technically?
i expect a big release tonight…after midnight.
Will they still release throughout the weekend as well
i dont think so. today/after midnight. and more on mon-tues before holiday, and then pick back up again on 12/1.
I haven’t seen many Eberly College of Science admits. Or maybe I’ve missed them. Anecdotally has Eberly been putting out admits at the same clip as other colleges?
what makes you say that
last 3 years of process. mon/tues of this week is typically high stat kids. Wed is some 2+2 plus high stats kids into UP. Thurs is some specific major admits. Friday tends to be a big dump including DUS and summer admits.
I’d love to hear people’s opinions on my chances of getting into University Park for the fall
90uw GPA 94 weighted but shows growth over first 3 years of highschool
4 AP / 5 honors classes
Varsity sport 4 years/ very active in clubs
Solid essay
History major
Next week is thanksgiving. There are no classes - I don’t know if the entire university is shut down, but lots of faculty/staff take the entire week for vacation.
I would expect some decisions in the portal tonight/tomorrow am (made today) and then I would not expect anything next week … with decisions to start again after thanksgiving.
I would say pretty solid chances, though maybe less so if you are TO, but I’m no expert. @MYOS1634 and @lucy_van_pelt might have a better idea.
What APs?
What level foreign language? (History requires a high level in foreign language for the area or period you’re interested in so the higher you’ve completed the better for you since tous have to keep going in college or at least understand how language/culture work to use those skills for a more period or area appropriate language).
Test optional? Any AP test results included in app?
Yes I got a 3 on psych apush and government and a 5 on human geogrpahy
I’m just a general history major
3 years of Spanish and a year of French
and test optional
Id say your chances are okay, probably 60-70 you’ll get in.
It’s good your APs are in social science.
You start as a general history major but then you will find areas of special interest.
Spanish is good if you want to study the Americas - the US or any central or south american region or country.
French is good for anything European as well as for African history (also for Russia).
History often requires grad school and grad schools will require 1 or 2 foreign languages at a pretty high level so you can read original documents - but that’s way down the line.
You also have thematic fields in history - cultural history, military history, history of the book, history of science, history of sexuality, history of education, quantitative history, etc.
Do you think being a military child will help improve my chances.
