My button disappeared tonight. I was just accepted to University Park Fall for engineering
4.0 uw 4.3 w #1 in class, TO, good EC’s with leadership and volunteering. Strong essay and recs. 6 AP classes, 3 ETC classes.

My son got into engineering. OOS. 3.7 UW. 4.1 W. 7 amps. Normal extracurricular activities. He did have tons of volunteer activities thru our church

My son was admitted today to DUS UP for Fall 2026 (in-state). GPA 3.88 (uw) 4.19 (w), SAT 600m 760v, Eagle Scout, homeschooled, no APs, 21 honors, 4 DE. Both parents are alumni and brother is currently a sophomore at UP. Plans to major in CS but didn’t want to risk direct application to Engineering.

Probably in March. Please be aware that Penn State has in the past awarded very little in merit or institutional need-based aid to most new main campus students, whether instate or out of state. Students accepted to Schreyer or chosen for the Provost Award receive $5000 per year.

DS admitted yesterday to Eberly College of Science at UP in fall.
OOS, 1470, 3.9 (I think weighted?), 5 APs, two varsity sports, ECs travel hockey, volunteering

Does Penn State take legacy into consideration? I know they asked it on the application but does it really matter? I have a sophomore there now and my senior is waiting for DUS decision.
Do you all expect Penn state to accept people and next week?

Son applied to Smeal last week of September. 4.09 W GPA, 1440 SAT, 8 APs and 1 Dual Enrollment class, two time DECA glass winner, DECA leadership position, DECA internship, National and Business Honor Societies, Track and Field Team Captain, lots of clubs and ECs. Applied to Schreyer and has an interview on 12/11. He still has not received a decision. He did check the Summer start box. Any thoughts? Getting nervous.

I haven’t heard of any summer admits yet so that could be it. We are also waiting on a summer start decision (Eberly). Good luck! Hope we both hear soon!

I just got to know about this forum this morning. and found it very helpful with all the feedback posted.
I wanted to specifically check in for my son’s chances in getting into UP-Mechanical Engineering.
His current weighted GPA - 3.95
SAT(1430) - Math - 750 English - 680
No AP courses taken since he has been an International student and completing his remaining one year in high school here in PA.
Course subjects cover STEM - Physics|Maths and is currently enrolled in Intro Calculus and Physics courses.
EC Activities - Photography and Blackbelt in Taekwondo.
Primarily wants to go to UP.
