My sons test score button disappeared tonight. We were able to log into lionpath and get his acceptance letter. He’s a professional golf management major in the school of health and human development.
@kara_greenfield Congrats! This program is so interesting to us. Do you mind sharing some of the basic academic stats on his application (and maybe some background on his golf “career”?)
My son is only in eighth grade, but he LOVES golf and I already told him about the PGM program some schools offer. I don’t see him going to college specifically to play golf, but he loves being around the course, etc. There is just so little information out there on what it takes to get accepted to these programs outside of the handicap requirement, and he already hovers around that number now at 13 (he ran about an 11.7 hin throughout the summer).
(Sorry for the duplicate request to @MYOS1634 , I was just excited to see someone mention the PGM at Penn State and stopped reading!)
His stats for the pgm program were. 92 unweighted average he didnt submit test score, 6 honors 4 ap 4 de. Hes a scratch golfer . Hes a .7 right now. He had a lot of golf activities : caddying, shadowing club professional ,community service with special needs. I know there is not a lot of info on PGM please let me know any questions.
Thanks for replying! Sounds like a great kid. I could see our son teaching younger golfers some day. Very compassionate kid that currently participates in Best Buddies through the middle school. He recently joined the local club as a Junior member (very low cost for youth) that is the home course for the high school team, and has a great relationship with the Teaching Pro and Clubhouse staff. I expect as he gets older he will be able to log plenty of hours working the course, assisting the with the summer youth camps, etc. He has always been a baseball kid, but started really focusing on Golf this summer.
Are you in-state? Also, were there other PGM programs he also applied to? Others we have discussed were Mississippi State, Coastal Carolina, Nebraska, and recently discovered Idaho as well. He is only 13, but he eally enjoyed the bigger schools we visited with my daughter.
I’m interested! D26 applied as DUS, but has a probable major she is interested in for the future (Math). She did sign up for the DUS Virtual info session for admitted students in December, but would like to find out as much as possible about DUS.
My daughter got in a few weeks ago! OOS from New York. 97.97 UW average (ours is out of 100), 3rd in her class, 1440 SAT. Has also applied for Schreyer. Fingers crossed as Penn State is her top choice.
