8 DE courses completed at community college (4.0 gpa). Not factored into school gpa above.

My daughter got into engineering on Tuesday this week. (Industrial) - 3.8UW / 4.3W & 1300 SAT score. 3 APās & the rest were Honors classes. She has taken AP Calculus & AP Physics which I have heard are important for the engineering acceptance. Good luck - I hope you hear back soon!! Waiting is brutal!!

My oos son was accepted after midnight for kinesiologyā¦.3.38 gpa, 1400 SAT. Strong ECs and a good essay. I checked the portal at 10pm and was shocked to wake up to a change!

My son got into Smeal today for UP-SS 3.553UW & 3.915W & TO(1130) & InState. 3AP-3DE(Calc, Stats, CS). His SD misplaced him in a high-high math class in Covid 7th grade and he grinded out those grades. He was too embarrassed to quit and those teachers were there every morning for extra tutoring. All of your kidās stats seem so much more incredible. I feel lucky but Iām sure he feels he earned it.

And thank you to all the parents who posted their kidsā stats and other relevant info in their post so that other parents, who are currently anxiously waiting, can get better info.
If youāre still waiting, hold on tight - only a week to go. If Admissions do it like last year, they could be releasing decisions every day till Sec 22, even on weekends.
If youāre waiting and worried, comb through every single major in every college at UP, and work together with your child to choose the ābest fitā major if theyāre offered a branch campus for their favorite major. There has to be one thatās close enough! This way youāre productive instead of āmaking bad bloodā from worry, and if the news isnāt what you wanted you can turn around immediately. 
But I want to reiterate that the fact you havenāt heard doesnāt mean you wonāt get in!

He wants finance which is what he got for 2+2, he wonāt consider another campus. His sister is at UP so sheās sad he wonāt go to school with him. We asked him If he wants to reconsider for anything else and right now says no and will wait on lots of other SEC schools to see how it goes first

He could ask for reconsideration by changing the major from finance to business and a year later try to get into Finance. 4.22 WGPA & TO sounds good for Business if core courses are covered including advanced math (Calculus/Stats). Had you put Summer Start option? If not, maybe you could add that in the reconsideration.
If Finance is the only option then other SEC schools makes sense.

If he asked for anything else in business Iām assuming he would not change from 2+2? We figured he would have to go to DUS but the getting into smeal second year may be hard or if not possible - if finance is not available based on their new smeal entrance?

From what I can gather, if you start in DUS you will need to apply to Smeal in your second SEMESTER (not year) and if accepted, there is no guarantee of any specific major.

That is correct. Two years ago my son got 2 + 2. You can ask for reconsideration but it must be a different major (not another major in Smeal).

Yes, Smeal is off limits if he got 2+2 but Energy Finance is in EMS not Smeal - it requires a decent math/science profile but the outcomes are excellent. Study abroad is encouraged (lots of foreign players -Scotland for wind, France for nuclear or the Marcellus Shale, and of course Canada for oil sands ..) and energy markets are a key finance sector that requires specialized knowledge -hence this major.
He can also ask for DUS+ Summer but I donāt think the new process will really make DUS-> finance possible. Heād have to knock it out of the park through Summer and Fall credits.
He could look into Drexel, Fordham, St Joeās in Philly, SUNY Albany?

My son submitted his application prior to Nov 1 and completed the SRAR, all other schools received it in time but Penn state didnāt - not sure if an upload issue but they said he is regular decision. Since the application is complete and was submitted so close, could he getting a rolling admissions decision soon, or does it have to be after Dec 24 the EA final date? He is 4.5 gpa 32 ACT 1350 SAT
How do you know that they didnāt receive STARS in time?
The portal said āapplication completeā but also stars ānot receivedā so it didnāt make sense so he emailed and they said they received it but after the deadline. Feels unfair since he did them all the same day and PSU received it 4 days after everyone else.
This happens every year, thatās why it was posted on this thread a few times to submit everything including SRAR/STARS around October 15 ā¦
Iām really sorry.
In a nutshell, it means theyāll look at his application in January

Got into Penn State University Park last night for Political Science! OOS
3.47 uw gpa (school dosent have weighted but every class 9-12 is taught at an AP-Honors level) and 1380 SAT

Daughter just got in to summer at main campus for poli sci. 3.96/4.45 GPA. Most of her core classes with the exception of math were honors and sheās never had a grade below A-. She took APUSH junior year and has AP Gov and Lit senior year.
My wifeās entire family is from PA so this will be pretty big news at Christmas.
