Congrats on University of South Carolina! Great school!
Plus 1 on usc being a phenomenal school Congratulations!
no change over hereā¦again.
Painful.
so tired of this
Thank you- that is very kind. Our daughter is there but our son bleeds blue and white so we will see!
No change here either
No change here either. No news is good news?
My daughter wonāt even check yet-
very upsetting
sounds like application is too high for branch, but at the lower end for UP. Hang in there. After they ran their early action numbers they made a base of who gets into UP, who gets in UP summer and who gets sent to a satellite campus. Now they will process the other applications and determine if the number is lower or higher than the EA base number for EA. Itās a numbers game that is it. Did you check summer? maybe change major to Liberal Arts?
come to the conclusion iām NEVER getting this decision
or maybe theyāre releasing at 8!!! (telling myself this to keep me sane)
My OOS student was deferred 2 hours ago, for UP and DUS. Is a deferral simply a no in waiting? Has anyone heard of a deferral that was actually later a yes? Even in prior years? Is there anything we can do at this point to help?
no change here either⦠iām just done with this.
so real. i have no drive to do anything besides sit behind a computer refreshing. this process takes a toll on applicants itās simply immoral
same questions⦠Iām trying to look for silver linings⦠Smeal via Test Optional (TO) DUS is a reach school for us .so Iām offering all the encouragement can ⦠good vibes to all out thereā¦

A deferral can absolutely be a āyesā in the regular decision pool. The only thing you can do at this point other than just to wait is to call and ask for summer start (if youāve already applied DUS) or to change into a less competitive major and ask for reconsideration. Keep in mind, however, to end up in Smeal a student needs to be in either DUS or Smeal pre-major.
If you are deferred as a smeal applicant, you can also call and ask for reconsideration for DUS/Summer. But DUS is not the least competitive major at Penn State. Itās gotten more and more competitive in previous years as students have used it to get into Smeal so there are more applicants. Even if you are denied in the regular pool, you can STILL call and ask for reconsideration to a different major/starting semester.
But, to answer your question - yes a deferral can still be a yes for UP. A deferral at this point is better than simply a 2+2 because you still have the option of getting into UP for fall/summer.
