Didn’t see a term like “automatic deferral” on PSU website. They do say a deferral decision is a decision, but in a lot of cases here, people haven’t gotten any decision (including a deferral decision) from them.

I agree it’s not right. 
You met their deadline now it’s their turn to hold on to their end of the deal: admitted UP, deferred, 2+2, denied.
Hope the issue is resolved ASAP.

I am so sorry for anyone who didn’t get their decision by Dec 24 when they were EA.
There is no excuse for Penn State to not even give a deferral notice.
PS - It takes a minute to get the Forum Champion designation removed -in the meantime I’m reconsidering whether to have it removed or not. I heard all of you who said that I’ve helped them and wanted me to stay. I appreciate that more than you know. Sometimes, you just have a day where you can’t handle any more and that was my day the other day. The negative posts towards me just put me over the edge. So thank you for your kind words.

You and others have stated it nicely. I appreciate the (unexpectedly) huge number of applications that Penn State is working through and respect that they want to give each one the consideration it deserves. But the lack of communication is frustrating and notable, particularly compared with our daughter’s experience at other schools. I realize now that we were fortunate to get direct emails regarding updates to her applications, but at minimum the other schools we applied to kept us in the loop on admission decisions and met (or exceeded) their targets. I’d like to see whether she gets into Penn State, as they have a great architecture program and it would be a great fit for our daughter. But she’s feeling done at this point and ready to move on to one of the schools that “actually likes her.” I wish folks all the best as EA, RA and reconsideration decisions roll out. And hope that Penn State will have better communications going forward - I think that would have cut down on a lot of the drama and frustration.

My daughter received no e-mail updates but just received her admissions offer today via mail. Given yesterday was the holiday, it was mailed before 12/24. Check your mailboxes.

No portal updates either! Just an acceptance in the mail?
@parent19767 After we received the acceptance in the mail, we received an email (also 12/26) that she was accepted. We went into the portal, and the letter is dated 12/18, but we did not see it before and did not receive mail or email confirmation until 12/26.
It looks like PSU doesn’t notify via email when the acceptance is in the portal (FWIW, Pitt was the same way). I had my son check the portal the day before Thanksgiving because I had seen people posting PSU decisions on Facebook. His portal had been sitting with the acceptance in it for a full week!

What major did she apply for?
My daughter’s friend is waiting on EA decision. It is still not in her portal. What does this mean if the decisions are already out?
