Please remember that it is a very, very tiny minority of people who have attacked you. You are very much appreciated here. But I understand.
No email when the decision is ready. Just have to keep checking the portal. Michigan St and Indiana - same thing, at least for our DS. Auburn sent an email, VT sent an email. Some do, some donāt.
@jlhpsu - I am truly sorry to see you go. It is tough when criticism from a few overshadows appreciation from so many more. Please remember that your selfless efforts have positively impacted so many people over the years. I hope you can focus on the good you are doing and the gratitude from those you have helped. Your dedication over the years speaks volumes, despite a few voices of criticism. Wishing you the very best
at least in our case, Michigan St DID send an email saying āyour status has changedā⦠and I wish more would program this simple notification⦠bravo MSUā¦
Iāve been following the Penn State board for the last six years for each of my three sonsā quest to attend Penn State and @jlhpsu has been an enormous asset in helping navigate this family, as well as countless others, through the admission decision process. It is a thankless job but was always willing to share her wisdom and was professional managing through the countless questions and concerns weāve had. Truly a huge loss for this āDear Old Stateā board.
Your information was simply challenged. Information needs to be questioned. Maybe I have an unorthodox style, maybe Iām not as polite as it should be. Whether one realizes or notā¦the perception by many parents here were that you may work for the university because of your conviction in your writings. People here are grasping for answers and you appeared as an oasis in the desert. While, Iām sure most of your info was true and helpful, much of it was not based on fact. Past performance (for anything in life) is not indicative of future results.
Ugh. You were a huge asset to me 6 yrs ago when my now PSU grad was applying. And again you have been a (patient) wealth of knowledge for my high school senior who was just accepted to PSU. I ask you to please reconsider. Iāve watched this other person and their agenda is obvious. I will respect and understand if you choose to leave as mod but it would be a loss to this forum.
Indeed. It would be a shame if one of the most knowledgable individuals here, someone who has selflessly given so much of her time for the pure joy of helping others, were to leave due to unfortunate vitriol from this particular year. How very sad.
@jlhpsu i am truly sorry to see you go. I am hoping that you can find a way to take a break and return. Your expertise with regards to commonwealth campuses is particularly valuable.
@On327 please donāt hide behind āmy posting style is unorthodoxā. You have challenged the parent experts every step along the way and presented yourself an expert in spite of the fact that it is your first year on this board. At the end of the day, you have done more harm than good.
To all parents whose children have not heard- I am sorry to hear that. When admissions opens back up, I would call. I would probably send an email asking for clarification before then in the odds that someone might be reading emails over the holiday. I will add the disclaimer that I donāt have any inside information, but it would be worth it for me to ask. (Actually, have your child send the email and ask).
@jlhpsu: please stay. Exasperated parents who lash out or act like forbidden-word-since-new-site come and go. Parents and students who have genuine questions and need help will be there in January and February and March and May and August and October, they will need your expertise and depth of knowledgeā¦
Ps: Iāve been a moderator on another forum and itās hell even if readers canāt see it. It takes true dedication ā no matter how much you disagree with the mods, make your point but donāt mention them or moderation, it is really best for all involved.
Itās perceived (well this is true)that I am the one lashing outā¦.I will leave the forum and no longer post. I have family members over the years that will apply, but many would rather me see go vs the senior member mentioned. We are all rowing in the same direction. I just challenge, no more than that. Penn State admissions process seems to be more difficult than it needs to be. To all of those new to Penn State, your next challenge/madness will be securing football tickets (just search it on tik tok)ā¦.I wish you all luck. My last postā¦Iām sorry to have stirred the pot.
Still waiting to see a decision⦠kind of nuts. Where can you see the date the SRAR was submitted? Wondering if my son submitted it after the 1st.
I was never able to tell by the PSU portal what date it was submitted. I think if you log into your SRAR, it may say on there⦠just make sure you donāt edit and resubmit it again, when you are āplayingā with the SRAR portal. We did that by mistake in October, not realizing when we āresubmittedā it updated to that ānewā date. It didnāt matter to us, because it changed from like Oct. 16th to Oct. 18th, but it might make a difference now. Good luck!

Youāll need his log in info.
The drama on this thread is absurd. Some of us have done everything right and still donāt have a decision. Hard to understand how a university canāt get its act together to meet its own deadlines.
Agreed. We called. They said we had everything in and we would have a decision by 12/24. We do not. We will choose the schools that have already loved us. Thanks for the support in this group. We have so much appreciated the support and insight but we are signing off. We will check the portal when all our other decisions are in. All the other schools are much more civil and respectful.
Oh I wish I saw this sooner!!! She got up Saturday morning and sent an email requesting major switch to DUS, with summer option. I wish I would have thought of a less competitive major
No decision yet. Daughter applied EA and as of last night it still said nothing. Not a deferral, denial or acceptance. So weird. I thought it was cruel to announce on Christmas Eve but to not have anything at all is just as bad
Which major did your D originally apply for? Happy Holidays to all. My S has heard not a word. So disappointed
.
Did you all read on PSU site that they were unable to get to all applications; the outstanding apps will be further reviewed and applicants will be notified by 1/31. Do you all read that as a blanket deferral for all these kids?
