Penn State Early Action for Fall 2024 Admissions

In fact if you can pick tonight, do so, as places go fast. If in CLA think whether you want to accept the challenge of Paterno Fellows and select a Paterno Fellow Aspirant LEAP Pride.
My advice if you’re hesitating: Pick CAS+ a typically weedout class (because in the summer, they’re not weedout) - math, econ…

Financial Aid Offers? Still have no informaton from Penn State University Park about a financial aid offer for 2024-25. Anyone receive anything?

Have not, was told not to expect anything, but also haven’t seen anything mentioned…

When we were there for 4/11 accepted student day, FinAid office said they’d be sent this week. I’m sure any moment now… Obv. goes to the student first and then a few days later parents’ emails are sent a “this is what we sent your student…” heads up.

Does PSU offer any need based aid?? I know merit is scarce, but wondering if we will get ANY aid from them in addition to FAFSA.

If you didn’t receive a notice with your offer of admission (or soon after) then :sleepy: no.
If you’re a PA resident you can apply to PHEAA though. The new governor upped that a bit. If you qualify for anything through FAFSA you would likely qualify for that too.

Ask your GC for help.

Oh gosh… we are not PA residents so won’t be able to do that in state loan.

If PSU OOS isn’t affordable, there’s still time to find an affordable university.
What’s your stats and budget? Do you have other acceptances? What major?

Other acceptances are within the budget (UMASS, Loyola Maryland), but Penn State has been “the dream” for her. The other colleges she’s gotten into that she likes are pretty $$$ as well. We will see where she lands!

I just received my fall financial aid (just checked Lionpath, no email) so it’s starting to roll out.

I also have mine

It’s posted in lionpath

Does anyone know when the Eberly scholarships will come out?

My daughter’s was just posted too. I can’t believe they only offer the 5500 student loan. It’s definitely off our list now.

This is no surprise to anyone who knows about Penn State’s notoriously poor financial aid. Even low income instate students most often receive no institutional aid from Penn State, and Pell grants and state grants don’t cover half of the COA. I didn’t even let my instate D17 apply to Penn State, knowing we wouldn’t be able to afford it.

My son was in at Behrend. Just got his package in LionPath. It’s not great, but we were expecting it to not be. Off the list.

My OOS DS checked and didn’t get anything other than a loan offer (not that we were expecting), so he’s declining his CS at UP acceptance. Good luck to everyone!!!
