Penn State Early Action for Fall 2024 Admissions

Yes. Seems like just a few mins ago

I certainly get the draw of a 4 year college experience and I think that’s a valid reason for wanting to do a BSN nursing program. I just want people to understand that they won’t get paid more and no one hiring for nursing cares. Did you pass your NCLEX? Terrific… here are your keys to the med cart.
Especially in these post-covid days when so many of us have ditched nursing as a career due to the trauma of it all, jobs are not difficult to find. I’m still working as a nurse but moved to nurse consulting on research projects. Less stress than the ER for sure! I’m glad I have my BSN for personal reasons, but it didn’t make me a better floor nurse and no hiring manager cared before I had one.

I 100% agree. Healthcare systems and hospitals do not require a four-year BSN, and they don’t pay those who have one a higher rate. If they do, it’s minimal.

It’s a bit odd how these decisions are rolling out , no ? There seems to be no rhyme or reason .

Congrats! That’s quite an accomplishment as PSU Nursing is one of the most competitive majors at PSU!

I think the 4-year experience, not wanting to jump into a job at 19 or 20 when peers are still in college, maturing and growing, are all valid reasons to get a 4-year nursing degree. In addition, presumably you take more courses (perhaps not in nursing directly but general education to be well-rounded) over 4 years than over 2.
I think it’s likely very different for people who start on a nursing career path at 22 or 25 than for 17-18 year old freshmen.

Few days ago my d wasnt able to login to lions path. It gave her an error. Today she got in and decision is posted there but NOT in her portal. Are you getting an error? If so, hang tight.

Except in NY, where the BSN in Ten law went into effect in 2019: ā€œIf you hold a license in New York, even if you are not working there, you are grandfathered in. However, for those who later enter the profession as an RN, if you want to be a traveler, or hold a license in New York, you will fall under this requirement. This requirement is that you obtained a bachelor’s degree or higher in nursing (the law states nursing) within 10 years of your initial licensureā€
