Penn State Early Action for Fall 2024 Admissions

Has anyone from out state gotten in yet?

Yes, there have been a bunch. Here is a link to another site that is decisions only. You can see stats here.

Yes, completely agree with wanting the 4-year college experience and I said as much in an earlier post. What I’m saying is that going to an expensive school isn’t needed when all an employer will care about is if you passed the NCLEX. I still think choosing the least expensive 4-year college that has a high NCLEX pass rate has the best financial outcome - but to each their own! Penn State nursing is awesome and highly regarded so I completely get the draw.

I only noticed that my daughter’s honors college button is no longer there. The test optional remains. Does this mean something is brewing?

If not for my act being so low back when applications were opened for early action, I would’ve applied for my state’s state school. I applied to big schools that don’t require test scores, such as Penn State. Unfortunately, I didn’t receive a decent act score till recently, so early action applications are long gone.

The same thing has happened to my Penn State portal. I still cannot log into the LionsPath.

Just noticed the same thing this morning
The honors college is missing
everything else remained the same. I guess a decision is in the works.

Hopefully, the decisions will be coming out here soon.

The honor college button probably went away as the deadline was yesterday to a-plu

*Yesterday to apply

I don’t think changing to biology would help with admissions, as biology is a very commonly chosen major for premeds. Perhaps changing to a less common, biology-related major would be better. Some examples: Anthropological Science (Biological Anthropology Option), Biobehavioral Health, Immunology and Infectious Disease, Pharmacology and Toxicology. Or switching to Liberal Arts (undecided).

Do you think I shouldn’t message admission to change my major on my application, which could result in my application getting pulled from early action and then it would lower my chances of getting accepted?

I don’t know the answer to that question, especially this close to 12/24. It probably depends on where your application is in the process. You might want to email your regional admissions officer and ask.

yeah, it doesn’t hurt to ask worse they can say no. Or I can just wait and see if I get in or no.

Scroll up in this thread and you will find the link to Lion Path. For us it was the same credentials as the portal.

the deadline was yesterday? So you have to apply to honors college before you even know if you are admitted?

Unfortunately yes. There were 2 big essays and bunch of short answers my son had to do for it. I questioned why all the extra work without even knowing if he got into PSU. But they sent him an email inviting him to apply for the honors college so he figured he would

I would wait for the decision.
If you don’t get in, ask for reconsideration for one of the majors listed ^ + (if your parents can afford it) summer.
I don’t think it’s worth calling&switching now, that close to the decision.

oh well. My son is drowning in work right now and he just wouldn’t apply without knowing if he is even accepted.
