Penn State Early Action for Fall 2024 Admissions

Stats? TO?

Still no Smeal decisions? Does anyone know when those will come out?

Thanks. Good data. Appears most have submitted scores (that were admitted thus far). I talked to admissions office today and they stated ā€œscores didn’t matter (last year)ā€ā€¦.FWIW, I’ve come to the conclusion for these latest admission drops, that students submitted scores. As previously stated for my twins….the one admitted last night submitted SAT….OOS, 1370, 4.2 (weighted, whatever ā€œweightedā€ means these days with all the grade inflation)

I’ve heard first hand of admitted Smeal…but not all majors (real estate)….

We are OOS, high stats, submitted SAT and applied end of September and haven’t heard yet either … the constant checking is driving us bananas !

Yes! The need to check the portal because of no email notification is legitimately a terrible system. I don’t understand how these schools that are highly ranked in things like computer science haven’t figured out a better way to do things. Either send an email or announce all at a given date/time… the need to check portals is awful.

There is an inherent issue with PSU admissions portal system. It’s odd for sure. Wait until your student buys football tickets or ā€œattemptsā€ to buy. Penn State has huge and well known publicized budget issues.

I ended up taking my 1270 sat away from engineering, the splits were 650 english 620 math.

We ended up taking a 1340 sat away too for engineering 680 math, 660 English. Too worried it wasn’t high enough for engineering. 3.84 unweighted, legacy parent, OOS. Hoping we hear in time to apply DUS if we don’t get in Main for engineering.

My DD was accepted for PSU nursing program. So proud of her.
I know that it requires a separate application for honor college.
I don’t know that a merit scholarship requires a separate application or it is automatically considered as a part of early action application.

Congratulations :tada:. Were you in state or oos? Did the TO button disappear?

My DD was admitted to Biomed Engineering at UP. She got access to lionpath at 7pm and an hour later the admission letter was uploaded. Admission portal not updated yet. Thanks for whoever shared the lionpath info.

Her GPA 3.91/4.47 from a competitive school and SAT 1500. In-state. A few of her friends with slightly lower stats were admitted just before the holidays and she was surprised. Told her to hang in there and not worry as the admission decisions could be random.

Congrats to all who got in and good luck to all those who are waiting. Just hang in there and your turn will come soon.

The admissions process shouldn’t be this hard. Penn State needs to up their game for alerts. They also use a black box theory and lean heavily towards OOS students that can pay the tuition and rarely supply merit aid. I’m a Smeal grad from the early 90s….so I love Penn State, but we lack in this dept for sure. Needless to say there should be daily admissions drops until 12/24….ā€shouldā€. Congrats to all thus far.

Hi all!! I applied EA for 2024 fall start on 10/30, but my scores didn’t send until a week or two later. When I called in they said that I would not be considered EA because of the timing. Should I expect a decision later than the EA decision deadline? Thank you!!

This might be a super silly question but I’m curious because of the date I applied c: I am hoping to hear soon but totally understand if that wouldn’t be possible!!
