Hope they make a statement if they change their policy. My S25 is currently testing and test prepping and after 1 SAT sitting is losing steam!
Just saw my acceptance in LionPath. Noticed the Test optional button changed at 7pm and found acceptance letter in lion path about an hour later.
When I called in August and asked the admissions rep, I was told the exact same thing. She told me to just have the student submit whatever they wrote for the common all essay. Iām now confused because I believe in the common app my kids were given the option of submitting the common app essay or the optional so they just submitted the common app. But Iām also reading that most ppl copy and paste the common app essay into the optional essay section. Iām not sure what the right way to do it is.
Congrats. What is your major?
Thanks. DUS
I thought lionPATH was only accessed by accepted students? How did you get in it to look for an acceptance?!
Congratulations!!
Can you please post the Major , Stats and campus ?
Some people have figured out they were accepted the night before they got accepted on their portal by seeing if they could log into Lion path. Same credentials. If you get an error, no decision yet. If you get in, there should be a letter somewhere and then your portal gets updated in am. We have no decision yet, so donāt speak from experience, only by what we have read here.
This is true.
My daughter checked rolling admission but applied back in September and we still havenāt heard anything. For some reason we thought that would be quicker that EA. Any insight as to whether we checked the wrong box or what we can do if we did? Was hoping to hear by now or at least before Christmas. Thx!

SAT 1330 submitted
Admitted to University Park for fall
I was not able to get into Lion Path until today. I guess they updated my status today. Acceptance letter was under communications.
Rolling decisions are not guaranteed before 12/24. She should have chosen EA for a decision before then.
Please keep in mind, different majors are held do different standards. So, for only an example, a student with a 95 overall might not be admitted to pre med.
Rolling is the last category to be reviewed, but I have heard that all applications complete before 11/1 are considered for EA. (In spite of what they check).
I recommend you call admissions tomorrow and confirm if she is EA and will hear by 12/24. Better to set expectations than constantly wait.
Looking for some advice. My DS applied DUS and summer start and was just accepted to Altoona. Heās devastated right now. He wants to ask for reconsideration but doesnāt know a good major(s) option to choose. While Penn State is by far his first choice, he likely will go elsewhere if he canāt join his friends at UP. His grades and scores are good (3.43/4 and 1220 SAT), but not great. He has multiple AP and Honors courses, and his ECās (Eagle Scout, 3 Sport Varsity Athlete, Senior Lifeguard, etc.) and writing are very good. Heās also a legacy with his mother and me. What might be the best option(s) for reconsideration? Heās open to anything.
decision came late tonight. My OOS son accepted. Saw test option removed on status page, so checked lionpath and could now login. Letter was in communication

Snail mail comes fast! Checked portal on Saturday morning and it said it was still under review. Then got letter in mail today, Monday December 11th!
Did the portal ever change?
What are his interests?
Has he taken 4 years (or more) in a foreign language? And/or Ap English&Literature? He could apply for a Humanities major with summer start - not many boys apply to those so it might help.
Labor relations might also work since itās a niche major (similar to Cornellās ILR but less selective).
Has he ever tried working in a unionized job and might he consider interning or taking a part time job in a unionized workplace?
If heās taken AP calc&Ap bio and has also had chemistry and physics, he could look for a non-premed/non prevet major in school of Ag like Agricultural management⦠or Health Policy&Administrarion⦠perhaps Anthropology. Would any of those appeal?
Planning ahead, Altoona is going to be more supportive than UP for a student with a 3.4 GPA, and heāll be able to really choose his major. Altoona students go to UP all the time, so heād see his friends on weekends.
