Penn State Early Action for Fall 2024 Admissions

I believe this too for my son.

It’s a deadline that Penn State admissions created. There is a chance they miss it
for some. We all “want” our answers “now”! My kids included. It will happen or it won’t! :man_shrugging:

On the portal it’s a new tab on the sidebar menu, virtual pride is the default login Home Screen, above admitted student info.

Nursing “FRESHMAN DIRECT ADMIT”. Meaning you are admitted based on High Achieving High School Stats, NOT REGULAR Nursing whereas you compete for entrance to begin Junior year. There are 2 pathways, and YES for “FRESHMAN DIRECT ADMIT” EA IS REQUIRED.
Regular Nursing you are admitted “Pre-Nursing” and take Nursing Pre-Requisites your first 2 years and then submit another application for entrance to Nursing School 2nd Semester Sophomore year. Freshman Direct Admit there is no competition later and no second application.

When you apply (Through PENN STATE NOT Common App) there are 2 Pull Down Menu Choices. One is Nursing Freshman Direct Admit and One Nursing or Pre-Nursing if that changed. If you choose Freshman Direct Admit it OPENS UP alot of waivers and disclaimers to check off.

What if she applied common app?

I think you’re still OK. My son just received his UP, Fall start, acceptance today (College of Ag). He received the portal update last Thursday “your app is under review, check back tomorrow (Friday)” but his decision didn’t land until today.

My son was worried it was getting late, too. But it could change at any moment like his did.

remember, many of the acceptances might be to a commonwealth campus. So the #psubound can also refer to that.

as to first semester grades, it is rare that they are submitted/reviewed. I read about someone’s school putting them in the SRAR, but the SRAR was filled out by the student (in my kids’ case - maybe different on common app?).

@On327 Just because a kid has not heard does not mean they are in the summer pile. There are kids who will still be admitted to UP fall start.

@HopefulMom_2024 It is NOT rolling decisions. We are still in the EA period, so if an application was COMPLETE by Nov. 1, they should hear by Dec. 24. (although deferral is an answer for some).

I do not Know. We don’t use Common App and apply directly with colleges so as no one school knows what’s going with the other.

Also, if you are Freshman Direct Admit your Acceptance Letter will say Admitted to Nursing School, if you are Pre-Nursing it will say DUS.

Not for nothing
 but I hope you’re wrong.

Again, it would be really mean to put a #PSUBound, if they are not getting in. Not cool to do, just saying.

I meant rolling until Dec 24th (since there have been acceptances in batches). It is listed as rolling here: Class of 2028 Early Decision Notification Dates | IvyWise

I agree. Hope I’m wrong as well!

Unfortunately it appears we all have the update so I think it’s just a “blurb” they’ve added

Yes I agree. My TO buttons are still there. I’m emotionally drained.

UPark Freshman Direct Admit Nursing Numbers for Fall 2022.
GPA Range 3.56-4.0 UW
SAT Middle Range 1280-1450
Over 80% Admitted had completed all Math/Science AP’s

Some of the Application Disclaimers were MUST Live on Hershey Hospital campus 1 to 2 Semesters, MUST have Car Jr/Sr years, and there are Additional Costs can’t remember the rest.

I will repeat what I’ve said in the past. walk away from the portal. Does it matter if you know today or tomorrow or the day after? You will get snail mail within a few days of an acceptance. Just shut down the portal and find something else to do.

and again, the #psubound may be for a commonwealth campus. Still PSU. Just a different start.

It’s a ridiculous “blurb” when it says “celebrate with us.” Not angry with you, but if this is a marketing ploy I will lose my $h!t on PSU. It’s just not cool.

@HopefulMom_2024 got it. but confusing terminology. Penn State has an admissions option “rolling decision”
it takes place after EA and RD (regular decision). Every year, a few people try to jump the EA since rolling says 6-8 weeks and they apply Aug. 15th hoping for a decision prior to EA. Everything ahead of the EA deadline is EA regardless.

I just logged in to my sons account. TO button disappeared and we now have access to Lionpath
but no letter. Anxious here!

For those who were admitted, when did letter in Lionpath appear??
