Penn State Early Action for Fall 2024 Admissions

None for us either

Same, nada

I bet they won’t release tonight and tomorrow because it’s big ED nights.

I’m sure they don’t care about other schools. Clemson said 6pm…on the dot. 6pm

TO button is still there … nothing yet…

Has any #psubound ghosted students actually been admitted yet?.. IF a half dozen have , I might start to be a believer…

I know of multiple kids that had that verbiage yesterday…combo of UP and 2+2. The language meant ā€œnothingā€

considering the fact that people have been saying how backed up they are, i’d be shocked

My accepted son did not get any invitation to a call. So might not be for everyone yet anyway?

Accepted son didn’t get any notice of the call…I just happened to see someone else post about it here. It’s on the PSU website but you’d have to know to look for it.

shocked it’s been so quiet tonight that’s pretty upsetting

ugh. TO button still there for us, too… that waiting continues…

If we don’t check Pennstate portal, how soon they send the acceptance letter in snail mail after the portal was updated? It’s not my D’s top choice but would like to know the result.

One of my kids took about 8 days from portal acceptance to snail mail.

Package arrives in the mail within 5 business days…give or take.

If you’d rather not know my thoughts, just Skip….

For those that applied EA, we are still waiting for one (twin brother accepted fall UP 4.0 unweighted, no scores DUS)

OOS
DUS
3.91 GPA unweighted
No scores

A friend of kid, same school

OOS
DUS
3.99 unweighted
No scores

I’ve seen 2+2 for Smeal lower than above and saw a UP summer lower. Same high school as mine. I have a theory and I’m sure I’m wrong, but seems to those of us waiting, it’s possible they are on the bubble pile for fall/summer. Again? I’m sure my theory is wrong and not intended to mislead. Just making ā€œguessesā€ on some same school data.

now what is bubble pile :sob::sob::sob:

My monkey math

I should also add…

A student 4 houses down

Top 1%
1500 plus
I don’t know GPA but whatever the highest is…that’s it
Smeal

…and no decision. So there’s that. My point being it’s random. I should add that my twins applied the day the app opened in august…other kids in school the day before deadline. The deadline kid was accepted UP summer low stats (under 3.7, no scores). It’s all maddening. Yes, I know about ā€œby 12/23ā€, but I honestly don’t care about the date they state…I care, at this point, about the head games going on in my head and my son (while his brother in the same house is ā€œinā€). I probably failed as a parent….and another point that doesn’t matter…both parents Penn State alumni…

@cmoon36 Cal State Schools aren’t holistic - what you are describing are the UC schools. Cal state schools don’t have essay options - they only take self reported grades and ask one generic question about activities (How many hours a week do you spend on extracurriculars), one generic question about average hours worked in past couple years, and one question on college app preparation programs.

The UC apps take 4 out of 8 essay prompts (350 words each), space for listing upto 20 activities or honors, and self reported grades (no pluses or minuses). Also no rec letters. UCs are definitely more holistic.
