Praying you hear soon
That was the comment made by the person at admissions when I called yesterday to ask about #PSUBound. That it was âlikelyâ a positive acceptance but that Iâd have to wait for the posting to learn more. The system was âprocessingâ the latest results and to check back. At one point she said she was confident we would hear âthis week.â
I have seen where other schools have sent e/mailings that have messaging like âcanât wait for you to join us,â and it has meant nothing at all. So, I personally would not put a lot of faith in their marketing messages. Better to believe it when you see it.
This wasnât a marketing email. This was in the portal where the decision is supposed to be. This was bad execution on the part of the school. If the decision has been made (which it sounded like it was from the person I was speaking to at admissions) why is it 48 hours later and we still donât have the information. I have confidence that he will get an acceptance but what will that be? UP, Summer, 2+2? He wants to play for the blue band so that dream hinges on this as well. Anyone on this forum diminishing the frustration of those experiencing this need to take a step back and empathize. Yes, 12/24 was the date. But psychologically, seeing others get in makes it hard to wait. If we knew an email would come telling us to check the portal (like the other universities have done) then thereâd be NO need to âcheck the portalâ and try and read the portal tea leaves.
For me what is fustrating is that they have the accepted students call tonight while still not sending out all the acceptances.
Well said!
Yes, I meant their universities, not literally the Cal State System.
I agree, which is why all EA decisions should be released on the same day (or at least the same week), rather than trickling out. Whatever you look at it, the use of hashtags is a marketing message.
Best wishes and hope you get an answer tonight as that clock hits 7pm !
I didnât realize the date for VT was February! My son also applied there and I kinda hoped he would consider it. They have a fabulous Geosciences program (Seems larger than PSU). He heard from George Mason (accepted) on Tuesday within minutes of getting the #PSUBound message.
I am sure if they havenât sent out all decisions yet , they are probably planning to have another session in future
They said they are. I think Feb she said.
I feel your pain. A couple of ours are at the end of March.
Yep, we are going to that GMU call now
Apparently he doesnât care that much about the GMU call, he didnât mention it (although he has an event at school so he couldnât have attended anyway). He applied to a ton of schools in VA because thatâs where his GF lives (insert eye rolling emoji).
There will be many accepted student events over the next several months. May 1 is the date to accept by for all majors.
I donât think anyone is diminishing the anxiety you feel, but we are trying to explain what the #psubound message is likely to mean. Itâs accurate for nearly all applicants because the commonwealth campuses are also Penn State. Still, it was likely an IT glitch, which is understandable given the constant portal refreshing going on, so it probably meant nothing for your childâs personal application.
Additionally, unless you spoke to an actual admissions rep and not the people who answer the phone, I wouldnât put too much stock in whatever they say. They answer hundreds of calls a day and do not have access to your childâs information. Only the admission rep does.
Lastly, the decision date is by Dec 24. If it helps you, think of it as the decision release date and just check on that day and save yourself the anxiety.
Ahhhh. My daughter wasnât that interested but I was like, hey, lets just see how it goes. It was pretty short.
Itâs too much for most of the adults too, that is why people pay $20 to $50k for college counselors. I definitely helped my kid with that stuff. I get the whole âlet your kid sink or swim.â But not my style, I am more of the here is a kickboard and then we will learn the strokes. Other people hire a private swim instructor. As long as all the kids learn to swim, its all good. My sweet kiddo gets emails and asks me to log in, and then I text him the video of me checking for him.
No updates for me tonight.
