Yes. Disappeared at 7pm…letter posted 731pm
Hmmm. That’s interesting. Maybe cause we were originally “not” TO? And changed a month ago? Not sure, but ours is still there.
DS24 got accepted 2+2 Smeal at Altoona
He is wondering if he asks for a different major could he try for UP?
We are OOS and he was excited about Penn State but feels like he messed up his application. TIA
Omg just checked mines and it did!!! Does that mean a decision is coming out soon?
Unweighted is each grade where A=4, A-=3.7, etc, regardless of rigor. You can calculate it yourself and hopefully you’ll find 3.65-3.7.
Then, ideally, there are 12+ Honors/AP/DE/IB courses (15+ for competitive majors).
Math through calc (for COE, Eberly, Smeal) or 4 years including stats/AP stats (other colleges) =>
Calc +MVC is excellent.
English, Honors/AP only, 4 years
History/Social science, 4 years
Foreign Language, theough level 3 or 4 or AP
Bio, chem, physics, 1 more science (AP bio/chem/phys of aiming for COE or eberly)
Classes that reflect rigor and personal interest (could be CS, Concert Choir…)
This is a sort of ideal template, applicants don’t necessarily/rarely match that exactly.
Yes, deferred is better than 2+2 because it means they haven’t decided yet.
It could also be linked to last year’s over enrollment, trying to gauge interest ← speculating here. Over enrollment Fall 2023 means fewer spots Fall 2024 but also hopefully trying to learn from previous mistakes wrt target numbers.
In the “scary story” I offered to tell, some students were deferred because PSU Admissions hadn’t anticipated how the double change of adding EA and being on CommonApp for the 1st time would impact numbers, so they hadn’t hired enough people. That was back in 2018 or 2019 I think. Hopefully this year won’t be the same.
From what’s been posted, yes. The test-optional button disappearing usually indicates a decision coming out within an hour or so. Keep us posted and best of luck!!!
I just checked Lionpath and I was able to log in successfully!!! What should I do from here? I’m so nervous
I just got into UCF!!! Hopefully, I’ll hear something about Penn State tonight.
deferral means he’s borderline and they want to push him to regular decision, which hears by Jan 31, to see the rest of the applicant pool. It’s “better” than being offered the 2+2 because he is still in the mix for UP campus
Correct.
BTW, if you’re given a branch campus and want UP, you can definitely apply for Education, which is less competitive but requires experience with kids or…education (otherwise it’d be too easy to hack!) And you have that so

This is what my communication center looks like right now but I’m unable to click into the Undergraduate Admit
Spot on about the ‘scary story’. My eldest son was part of that fiasco…Winter 2018 for the Fall 2019 class.
Yes, he can call and ask for reconsideration for a new major. DUS seems pretty “full” at this point but he’s always allowed to pivot at the end of 1st semester if he feels he chose his major wrong. There are lots of options, which I listed around #1324 and down.
Checking that he’s willing to start summer makes it easier but it’s expensive (the money isn’t lost because the classes count toward graduation but if the money’s not budgeted it just isn’t there )
D24 is in! UP Campus.
I will post in the stats page!
Hmmm, we were just able to.
OMG CONGRATS!!! I’m refreshing like crazy right now lol
You just have to wait until your letter comes under the communications. There is probably an “ack” letter currently. A second letter is the acceptance with the campus, etc. Ours took a little over an hour to spread, but I’ve heard next morning for most. Good luck!
Would there be a 3rd file then? There’s currently “Undergraduate Admit” and “Undergraduate Application Ack.” and I’m unable to click into either of them. Thanks!!
No, the undergraduate admit is the letter… keep refreshing until you can access. That’s the letter. No 3rd.
Still nothing here. Still have TO button. Time for a drink. Cheers all! (Friday 8:45pm)
